Passport expire and got passport request from cic

Please reply to my below question.

my passport will expire in feb 2014 and i got a passport request from cic today.
if i send my passport to cic will they put visa on that.
also is that visa valid for one year or only till the date passport expire.

I came across sometime back that your visa will be valid till your passport expiry date, if it is less than 1 year.
Better give a call to CIC and check.

They will issue the VISA till Feb 2014, You will have to get your Passport renewed after you reach Canada.

hi ps2211,

please get some professional advice from a lawyer,i am afraid you won't be able to get a visa stamped if your passport has less then 3 months of validity or even if you get your visa you may face issues later on when you want to complete your landing formalities.
please consult an immigration lawyer before making a decision,its totally worth it.
(this is just my two cents advice,i could be wrong.....more experienced people should comment).

Passport validity is NOT an issue.
But note that your visa will expire on the same day your passport does. If you are sure you can land before that, go ahead with the current passport.
And no, you won't face any difficulties when landing in Canada as long as you have a "valid" passport.
You have just one day left on your passport? It may be a problem in some countries but its completely fine in Canada. You can still do the landing. The difficulties you may face with expiring passport is with airlines. Some airlines wont give you boarding pass if your passport has less than 6 months validity.
If your taking a bus, car etc, you dont need to worry about anything

How long does it take for you to get a new passport? Getting a new passport before December would solve this problem.

My passport is expiring in month of Feb 2015. I am planning to submit the PR application by end of NOV (currently in process of collating the documents)

My question is

1. Should i go ahead and submit the application knowing that passport is expiring in Feb 2015?
2. Is it mandatory to have a passport valid for more than 6 months or 1 year while submitting a Pr application?
3 After submitting the application, can i send the details of renewed passport later to CIC once i get from Indian consulate?

I have the very same issue like you.Im a PNP applicant .I sent them an email with an appeal for consideration as we will be doing our landing via car, and not leaving Canada anyway.Wondering if you took any steps on this matter and what did CIC say? I'm still awaiting for their reply.
