My husband is going to sponsor me and our child to canada. My passport will expire on July 2019. In my passport, I am using my maiden name and my marital status is single.

My questions are:
-Should I follow my marital status as stated in my passport even if I am married now?
-Should i renew my passport and what should I change?

There is no need to change your passport or renew it.
Your marital status should be 'married' on your application. Include a copy of your marriage certificate. DO NOT declare yourself 'single' on your application. You are NOT single, you are married and are being applied for via spousal sponsorship.
