Hi,

I will have my ECA score day after and my IELTS score is ready and I am all set to fill my Expression of Interest form. But I have an issue bugging my mind. My Passport is expiring in October, 2015 and I am thinking whether this would be an issue while filling the EoI form.

Will it? Do they ask the date when Passport is going to expire?

I have already applied for a new one but it will take about 10 days for it to come and I don't want to waste time.

What do you guys think?

Thanking in anticipation.

Hi Vaibkv,
You don't have to worry much, that's good news that you h'v done your ECA And IELTS result is ready. there are many people not yet even create their CIC Profile because people preparing proper documents. i suggest it would be much better for you if you can Renew your passport before you apply. better wait for 10 days till passport comes to your hands then you can apply.
you don't have to feel desperate, nothing you are going to loss if you not apply now !.
So relax, be well prepared for your own goodness.

cheer !! :D

Hi, to add on:

Those who have successfully filled up the Express Entry online form, was there a step along
the way that asked for the date of expiry of the passport?

Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance!

You should wait for your passport as the new passport will come with 10 year expiry date. Secondly don,t use your current passport number to create profile because once your passport will be renewed the passport number will also change.

Ya, and I also have one more question to ask -

Both me and my wife want to migrate and she is a working professional too. Both of us have taken the IELTS test but only I have got my ECA done. Is her ECA necessary too? We did not get it done since nowhere it was mentioned that it was necessary for the dependent to get an ECA but some folks on this forum are saying otherwise.

So, is it necessary to get her ECA done and are there any extra points for that? Is there really a place in the application to fill in dependent's ECA score?

This is a very important query for us.

Thanking in advance.

ECA for Spouse is not necessary,But yes there are some extra points for spouse education also but you will only claim the points if your spouse ECA will be done.

Oh! Is it? :(

How many points will I lose? :(
ECA takes about 20 days. Say, 10 more days to get the transcripts, sending them, etc. Do you think it's worthwhile to wait 30 more days? I think there's a lot to lose while waiting for 30 days.

Hey chevy,

Thanks for your prompt replies. She is a B.Tech in CS, not a post-graduate or a Ph.D. Does that mean ECA is not required in her case? If possible, can you direct me to the source where you have read about this dependent stuff?

Again, thanks a lot for your prompt replies.

Best Regards.

As she comes in degree holder of more than 3 years categories you can only claim for maximum of 8 points. Here is the source http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp

Damn it! By the way, you think 8 is a lot of points to lose? Should I get her ECA done now or is the wait not worth the risk?
What's your opinion on this?

Also, when does one have to start worrying about the funds?
