Hey There,

I'm not sure if this has been asked (please direct me to the correct thread if it has!), but i'm wondering what the next steps are for CEC after passing the first stage of application.

I passed the first stage at the beginning of May and sorted my BOWP at the end of May when my IEC visa expired, now i'm wondering if someone could fill me in on the next steps of the application. I have seen people mention e-cas amongst other things, and i'm not sure if i'm supposed to be signing up for these things while I wait to hear from CIC as my application progresses.

I have also moved address since submitting my application, is there somehow I can inform the CIC of this so that they dont send any physical correspondence to my previous address?

Thanks!

* Next step is receiving AOR (acknowledgment of receipt), you will be sent an email informing you that they received your application and given you a file number.

* once you get this email you will be able to see your status (E-CAS) online; you can do that here:

https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/ECAS.jsp

* you are required to inform CIC if your mailing address changes, however, you will be able to do that once you get AOR.
I don't believe you can change your address before that simply because you don't have a file number with them yet ;)

thanks for the reply, but I got my AOR at the beginning of May. Sorry, i should have been more specific above!

So I just have to sign up for the e-cas and that's all i have to do for now until i hear for CIC again?

Thanks,

you use your information to login into ECAS tool.

you need to let CIC know of the address change.

you just wait after that ;)

LOL. You know the application instruction guide has a "What happens next" section at the end? With a nice link for "Checking the application status online..."

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5609ETOC.asp

Did you also know that there is also a handy-dandy "Change my Address" tab at the top, on the left hand side?

BTW - Don't know if this is still true, but CIC used to only download updates on to e-CAS, so it was a waste of time to update your address on e-CAS, your visa office won't get the update.

From my experience it is either still the case or they take months to update the address on file when applicant updates ECAS. I updated my ECAS address IIRC 7 weeks before I received MR and it had the wrong address.

Later I emailed them and they confirmed updated of address within 48 hours.
