Hi,
Sorry I'm bit confused, for the Express pickup (2-9 business days), who decides if it is 2 or more (upto 9 days)?
In other words, If I will go my self and pick it up, is it guaranteed to be 2 business days?

Thanks,

I imagine it’s like the 2-5 days IRCC quotes to respond to web forms.

Plan on it being 9; I am! Or if you have urgent plans pay the extra $60 (may also require proof of travel).

The passport office decides - It depends on the amount of passport applications they have to process and print
I imagine if there is a lot, then it can take around 9 days (worst case). Else 2 days (best case)

Express pickup is for pickup - irrespective if its 2 day pickup or 9 day pickup. Once its ready they will either call you or send an email.

Thank you both for your help.

They told me when I went to apply when I could collect it; 5 days in fact (ie: submitted yesterday, pick up on Tuesday). I consider it five days because even though I am on Ontario, Service Canada (like CRA etc...) is Federal and so Family Day (Monday) is only a provincial holiday I believe.

Oh yes indeed, but I wanted to provide a personal update on the 2-9 day topic as that is quite a window. For example someone I know was flying 10 says after the oath and so 9 days was too long (given one has to wait at least a day).

That the office can tell you an actual date is great for those with confirmed travel plans.
