Partnership From UK to Canada (Need a hand)

So, basically i'm a Canadian citizen but I moved to the UK 2 years back to live with my partner and now she's wanting to come to Canada with me which is wonderful. Im figuring the partner one is the best option but recently looked at the processing times at about 11 months which isn't going to work as I need to leave the country in the next few months as is. Is there anyway that she can come with me and then try to processes the sponsorship from inland in Canada for a quicker turnover time? or any other option to get her there faster?

inland certainly is not faster than outland. since she is from the uk, it's probably best to apply outland. she can be in Canada as a visitor while the application is in process. Outland gives her the ability to leave and come back freely. once she's in canada as a visitor, she can apply to extend her stay. visitors from visa exempt countries have found success in staying in canada for the duration of the application process. what she needs to be aware of is that she can not work or go to school while in canada as a visitor.

unfortunately, there is no "quick route" for sponsoring a spouse or commonlaw partner.

also, it's important to note that the processing times suggested on the CIC website aren't totally accurate. I would suggest looking for the London applicant thread and checking the stats of people on there. UK has a pretty quick processing time, as compared to other countries.

Much quicker to apply outland from the U.k. If it is straight forward and you have a lot of documents to back you up it could be about 6 months .With an outland your partner would be able to come and go freely. With inland she should remain in the country for the whole time of processing. You will need prove intention of moving back to Canada so a job offer, a lease on a house ,bank accounts or even emails to family telling them of your plans.

Well I do have a job offer in Canada through the company I already work for here in the UK.

Just trying to figure out the easiest way without having to be apart again.

"easiest" way would be to apply outland, and have her enter canada as a visitor, then apply for an extension before her visit expires so she can remain there during the process. SHE can not work or go to school in canada as a visitor. If she is attempting to enter as a visitor, make sure she brings proof of ties to her home country... lease/mortgage and paystubs/work contract from UK company.

Yes - it can be. But lost of us here have made this work or are making this work. Some have had to settle for one income for much longer than 6-11 months.

Sometimes it comes down to pretty basic choices. You can either be together with one person supporting both of you - or you have to live apart for a period of time.

Well you could apply now and then move back on your own or she could come back with you for a holiday and return to the u.k ,. I know you don't want to be apart but we do what we have to do . Otherwise you travel back and fourth to the U.k for a visit. It not a great choice but the U.k is one of the faster ones . When i get ticked off with the system I think of all the applicants who's partners cant even come to Canada for a visit . We are very luck coming from the U.K. :)

same here! it's aweful how long some people have to wait. i consider us lucky that we can drive to each other in 8 hours, and see eachother regularly. it's really just a small blip in the grand scheme of things

yes, and as taffy says, we do what we have to do. An ideal situation is for her to be in a job that she can do remotely, and get permission from her employer to do so. That actually helps her status as a visitor, because she is fully employed by a non-canadian company and gets paid to/from a non-canadian bank.

Absolutely at least i can get on a plane and be with him in 8 hours . Don't have to apply for a TVR and get denied . Mine you its a bit costly , but that's what we have chosen to do , to be with the one we love.
