Partner Sponsorship when you both live outside Canada

HI,

I'm a Canadian citizen and currently live in Australia as a Australian Permanent Resident. I may soon want to move back home with my parent who is Australian. Am I able to apply for a Canadian Partner visa when I don't live in Canada, but am still a citizen?

Yes, as a Canadian citizen you are allowed to sponsor your partner while residing abroad. However, you will need to prove your intent of resuming residency in Canada (job offer, property mortgage, admission into an educational institute, etc.) You must convince the visa officer that you will be returning to Canada once your partner get approved as a PR.
