Part time job as an Int'l Student

Hey there, I've recently been issued my student visa to study in Canada

Although my parents have agreed to pay my tuition fees + books and stuff, I must pay for my own living expenses. Now for starters, I'm not a very spendy person...I basically need to make just enough money every week to buy food.

I've heard part time jobs in Canada can pay up to $200 a week in Ontario. I'm not sure if my university (UofT) helps internaitonal students in finding part time jobs, so how would I go about getting a part time job?

What are the types of jobs I can do? And can someone please confirm the 200 dollar/week thing
Thank you very much :D

You salary really depends on what kind of job you're gonna get. Minimum wage here in Toronto is CAD$11.40 per hour. Assuming that you will be able to work 20h/week, you can make up to $228. I was able to work part time during my studies received $15/hour - what gave me a bit more. Keep in mind that this is before deductibles (ie. CPP, EI and tax).

UofT probably has a place/group where you can look for part-time jobs. I studied at George Brown College and they had a Facebook group for students looking for jobs.

Kinds of jobs you can do? Something related to what you know already (that would be probably harder to thing in the beginning though), coffee shops, grocery stores, malls...

Thanks for your reply. I'm honestly open to really any type of job as long as I dont have to commute far from downtown Toronto. Also what job were you doing that paid you $15 per hour? I would like something similar
