Hi, my parents are planning to visit Toronto in a few weeks. Can someone please help with inputs about the below?
1. My parents are not able to carry luggage themselves to the counters etc. Would there be people to help carry lugguge at Delhi and YYZ?
2. Also concerned about loading luggage when moving from the airport to the quarantine hotel. Does anyone know if there will be someone to help?
3. Is it possible for family members to take the luggage from the airport or hotel ( the bags they wont be using for the 3 days)?

Thanks a lot in advance.

When you book the mandatory hotel, you can ask them if they provide the service to help them load and unloading luggage from the shuttle bus or airport's arrival hall to hotel room. I don't think family members can do it for them.

1. There are valets you can hire to move their luggage.
2. The point of quarantine is not to come in contact with them or their bags. Again their are valets at the hotel and airport to pay to do it for them.

I did read in someone's FB post that they were able to help out at the hotel. But it may just be an exception..

Have any of your parents travelled recently? My parents have some serious health issues- my mother cannot sit straight for long stretches of time. Business class is just too expensive for us, from India to Toronto.. We could book economy with leg room I suppose, but that doesnt help much. Is there anyone who can give suggestions about this?

Pay to get seats in the front row but if she can't sit for a long period of time travel may not actually possible and a good idea especially given covid. If she has serious health issues I would make sure to take out over 100K of health insurance and read the fine print to determine whether treatment would be covered if she needs emergency medical care in Canada.

Thank you for your reply.. it's serious in the sense she cannot sit straight for long periods of time. And that leads to discomfort...

Then unfortunately you only have 2 choices: not travelling or paying for business /first class. If her health is that bad I'm not sure how she will visit Canada. Our medical is not even treating those who have provincial healthcare which will always be the priority. If she needs treatment for a preexisting condition how will you pay for it if you can't afford a business class seat? How will she visit Canada and then return home if her health is so fragile?

How about "premium economy"? With current low occupancy flights, being in economy cabin, one might find no other passengers sit around, which means the passenger can occupy the three seats near him/her and lie down for most time.

I hope so! Air India has only economy, and no premium economy. My parents would like to travel by Air India, considering the staff /passengers would mostly be Indian.

that's a valid question. She is doing all her check ups, telling the doctors if traveling is ok etc. It is when sitting for long periods of time that her back and joints start hurting etc.
The common suggestions are to keep feet elevated and take walks often in the plane..
We are also taking a medical insurance for both of them, for preexisting conditions ( this is the best we can do in the current situation)

After the 3 days or less stay at the hotel, can family members come to the hotel and pick them up?
