Hello my name is Vincent and I'm planning to sponsor my parents and my common law wife's parents... I started this thread to ask and share information on how to do this..

1. Steps to follow
2. Forms to complete
3. Financial requirements
4. Documents to gather

I'm in the middle of completing the forms but I know that the new rules is not out yet. Very limited applications will be accepted so I would like to start as soon as possible then once the new form is out then probably I can just transfer some information. One such form I'm having difficulty is the financial evaluation. Maybe we can share on how to complete this. I have tons of questions....

One such requirement is 3 years of income above $70,000. There are a lot of immigrants who are able to reach and obtain this. My concern is to be included in the 5000 cap for the sponsorship.. Please share and guide on how this process will start.

For financials, you need to show a minimum of 3 years of Canadian income in the form of CRA Notice of Assessments, at the LICO+30% levels.

Since you want to sponsor 2 sets of parents you will need 2 applications. I'm not sure you are allowed to be co-sponsor on one application, if you are primary sponsor on another.

So perhaps you will need to qualify for the 3 years/LICO+30% for your parents, and your spouse for hers. I assume both you and your spouse are PRs or citizens.

To meet the 5000 cap you should be sending your application in within the first week of January.

Thanks Rob,

Yes I'm well aware of the new rules though it's not final, I'm still anxious about the new rules. Yes we will sponsoring both parents. My family is 4 in total and we will be sponsoring both parents so that will bring family numbers to 8 total... With the new LICO +30% we need to maintain at least 100k to be safe for the past 3 3years preceding the application. Do I have to only file 2 application or 1for each individual as stated in the guide?

Thanks

What's is the difference with current and previous undertakings.. Since this will be a new application there should no previous undertaking... The number s doesn't add up if I apply the number of applicant.... I don't want to hire a consultant because that's an extra expense... Fees are already to the roof... Oh my kamote...tsk tsk

Anybody out there that will be sponsoring their parents in January 2014 please share....

Even the forms may change, I doubt if you can use the same forms in 2014, they may have new forms then.

So keep monitoring the CIC website for new updates.

I believe you only need 1 application per set of parents (mom and dad). 1 parent is designated as the principal applicant, and the other parent is an accompanying dependent. So you guys will need 2 completely separate applications, for your parents and for her parents. Each application needs to be assessed individually.

i.e. for your own parents, you will be the sponsor and you'll have to show LICO+30% for family size of 4 + 2 parents = 6 people, which is around $72K income. So your own personal income should be around this level since 2010.

Then for your spouse, she will need to be the sponsor for her own parents, and she will also need to show LICO+30% for family size of 4 + her 2 parents = 6. So she would also need to show $72K income since 2010 (assuming you can't co-sponsor since you are already a sponsor).

What i'm not sure of, is if you can co-sponsor each other, since each of you would then have 2 undertakings in progress at the same time.
