Parents Sponsorship: CIC Letter Received but Missing Steps(Apparently)

Folks,

I applied to sponsor my parents in 2011(in the good old days before they closed that category) and just received a letter that has a checklist with it to provide additional forms/documentation.

Issue that I see is that steps 4-7 inclusive are missing and then it goes on to step 8 onwards. BTW, each step is referring to some form or document that CIC requires. Is this expected or has their system gone awry on this one?

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. I don't understand why you say we shouldn't worry. Did you contact cic and they said the missing steps are not needed and why steps 8 to 11 are printed twice?

May I ask which month in 2011 you applied? Thank you.
It was in March 2011.

How are you so certain? Have you checked with CIC?

I got the same exact thing - steps 8-11 are printed twice. Doesn't make sense although I am thinking of calling CIC but not sure if the Call Centre folks can help with this as "apparently" they have the exact same info that is available through the online status check.

Anyone else that has actually gone through and had a similar situation? Any lawyers out there?

Calling CIC won't help you as they can't access information from your parents file if it's already been transferred. Why not contact the embassy in which your parents file is currently located and ask them what it means? Don't wait for someone else to chime in as it could be the difference between them continuing with your file or rejecting your file.

I guess my challenge is I don't even know if the file has been trasferred to the country of origin embassy or not or should I assume because I got the letter and the request for additional information, that is the case? If that is the case, does it mean step 1 is complete and that CIC has approved the sponsor portion of the application.

Sorry, I have been out-of-touch on this after I applied in 2011 and literally told myself to forget about it until I hear from CIC so that's why some of these obvious questions are popping up.

They are requesting additional information from you? If they need additional information you really shouldn't wait on sending it. I guess I don't know what 'steps' you are referring to. But perhaps they have the parts that they didn't list in the steps? I don't really know for sure. I can tell you though if they request additional information you should collect and return it ASAP.

Sorry - to be more specific, they need my option C printout and rest of the documents are from my parents.

Thank you.

It sounds as if they are now working on the sponsorship part of the application and need a new option c from you. The other documents from your parents are likely some new updated files since the other ones are now 3+ years old. If they didn't list it in the letter they sent you, then probably don't need it. I am quite sure you should include the letter they sent you so they will know what they asked from you. As always, make photocopies of EVERYTHING you send to them so if they say otherwise, you can show your photocopy. Just a safety measure.

They will begin processing in Canada. Nothing has been done about the file and it wasn't transferred anywhere.
It is interesting that complete processing may be carried out in Canada without ever transferring anything to a local office.
This is mentioned in ob353 for 2011. Sadly I can't find annex A which has the checklist.

Hello,
I just hang up with the call center. They emailed me the checklist while I was talking with the guy on the phone. It has the missing steps 4 to 7.
This forum is very helpful only if it wasn't for the strong assertions being made with no ground.
Please keep this in mind. Thank you

Don't Panic guys.

Simply contact CPC-Mississauga by fax, or by email and ask them about the missing steps.

CPCM-EXTCOM@cic.gc.ca

Fax: 905-803-7392

I doubt if the Call Centre agents would have any clue about the checklist because they can't see it, and probably don't know the way CPC-M is processing these files.

Now sponsors have to send ALL the documentation to CPC-Miss, who will complete the assessment and then send it over to Visa Office upon approval.

Start asking your parents to fill/sign the forms, such as IMM8,Schedule A, additional family info form, etc, and make sure their address/history includes everything from AGE 18 upwards. (Last 10 yr history/addresses/activity is not enough)
Make sure the signatures are original (not looking photocopied, etc) or they will send the whole package back.....

Good Luck!

Thanks everyone for responding.

@canvis2006 - thank you for listing their fax/email. I have emailed them to inform and request the missing steps.
