most people take benefit due to need and not choice so i don't think the advice of "not taking benefits till application is finalized" would be of any help.

Whether on benefit or not, as long as you meet the LICO, you have nothing to worry about except a delay of a couple of months or so.

True, but it is NOT same as welfare benefits.

CIC DO check for sponsor if they have ever taken welfare benefits. If you order file notes, it will tell you their as well. Unemployment, I don't think it is a big issue, but could lead to CIC requesting more documents.

So while the file is in the queue, they have real time updates on sponsor too - for eg., taking EI or Disability benefits
On the other hand, they must also get positive results too? if the sponsor has bettered from their original LICO

hey guys..its kinda offtopic but i think some of you might know..
how long it takes for regular registered mail to get to canada from india?
my panjab university is sending transcripts to my university here in canada and they sent it on march 8..
stupid govt babus at panjab university ..took them 3 weeks just to mail the package..hopefully wont take that long for it to reach here.or i will be %^%^$% and have to wait and apply for next semester..

average is 3-4 weeks & could take upto 6 weeks.

For those who received passports in India, does postman take signature? and ask for proof of ID before delivering the passport

i am representative to my parents as i got aol from visa office to my address in canada
my question is this will the visa office send medical request through email or mail and what about passport request how it works as my parents are not in canada as i am representative how visa office send passport back to us the visa office send passports to canadian address as to representative or to local addresss

Meds and PP request will come to you via email ( that's how they are requesting and rarely with letter ) You will have to mail that request letter to your folks who will do meds in home country and mail passport locally, you are technically just their mailbox. LVO will then mail passport back to HOME address which I assume is of home country

just make some good cooperation with postman they will hand over to your frnd not a big deal in india

so here's my update abt my situation:
1) called all the doc's in ludhiana yesterday n was told tht she DOES need ANOTHER PHOTO ID WHICH HAS HER DOB, PICTURE N ADDRESS ON IT ALONG WITH PHOTOCOPY OF PASSPORT!!! i dont knw if they used to do with passport photocopy alone before but now they dont do it. so if someone is expecting remedicals (i wish nobody is/will) just have another id ready. PAN card, aadhaar card or driver's license will work.
2) fastest way to get hold of chc, nd is: send email on delhi-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca and mark URGENT in the subject field. we sent the email yesterday (it was after their working hrs) and had reply today informing tht they already mailed the passport. case specific inquiries take months to get answer

now we are waiting for passport. they hv sent it on 12 march n 15 is already gone...when do we expect to get passport back from New delhi to Ludhiana? i remember gaggi got his passport back within couple of days! so anybody hv any idea?

you will get passport in 5 working days if they dispatch on same day so tommorow you will get passport back
