Parents PR Status giving birth this November 2016. New Born Baby Status?

Hello to all,

We just recently arrived 2 months ago and will be giving birth 1st week of November.

We got our PR Card last a month.

We met someone who gave birth a year ago that her new born baby does not obtain the canadian Citizenship status as the parents status are both on Permanent Resident.

Just want to clarify if it is true. As far as we all know that all child who born here in canada automatically obtains their Canadian Citizenship. Is there any amendment of the rules.

It is a great help for us if you could give your opinion.

No amendments. Your understanding is correct. A friend from work had a baby a month ago in the same situation and she's a Canadian citizen.

Who knows what's the deal with the person you met.

If I may make a suggestion: Always refer to the official sources. The "he says, she says" piece is not always correct. As of today, a baby born in Canada is Canadian unless the parents are diplomats:

Your understanding is correct. You newborn will be a Canadian Citizen before you guys.
