My parents plan to land in end of Apr
This will be sort of soft landing as they plan to return in 4 months so as to return next year for some more time
Please advise me on the checklist and also if they be able to apply OHIP? I heard that OHIP is received after 3 months but expires if parents do not stay or use it

They have to be in ontario for 3 months to qualify. If they are gone for 183 days they lose coverage and must wait 3 months again after coming back

They should not apply for OHIP at that time. They can apply when they settle permanently.

This is incorrect. It takes 3 months to qualify and they must remain in Canada for 5 out of the first 6 months and 6 months out of the year. They can only apply once they settle permanently and there will be a 3 month waiting list. You should read the ohip website and learn about the residency requirement because even with a valid card they could not qualify and be asked to reimburse any expenses.
