Parents got 3 month trv. Need help to extend their stay

My parents just got visitor visa for 3 months only. Insted of 10 years.
When they apply first time it was rejected due to multiple reasons. Like no travel history, family tied up in Canada, no source of income.
Does anybody know what to do if they want stay in Canada for 5 months ?

I would assume by "visitor visa" you refer to TRV (please do not use the term "visitor visa" to avoid confusions).

- The TRV only states the time window they are allowed to enter the country.
- If they are accepted in Canada the CBSA officer will grant them a visitor status. The length can be from a week to six months.
- TRV doesn't need to be valid while they stay in Canada, only their visitor status (so more than 3 months can be given).

It seems a little off that you requested 5 months and they give you only three. Hopefully you are not lying to CIC stating a shorter stay to get approved.

Anyway, there is a chance they can stay 5 months without doing a thing.

If they want to stay beyond her granted visitor status, they will have to file for a visitor extension. Please be mindful that if they got a TRV for 3 months AND they weren't given at least 5 months, the odds of extending are poor.

Thank for your reply. Yes I meant Trv. They only want to for short time as they are visiting their first grand child. But usually they give at least 10 year of trv.
So I guess if they want to come back they have to re apply.

A 10 year TRV doesn't mean they can stay 10 years. ATRV ca be issued for any duration from single entry and 6 month validity to 10 year multiple entry. Despite all that, the stay in the country is determine by CBSA at the point of entry. There is never a guarantee they will get 6 month entry when a visitor arrives. A lot depends on travel history.

Would you like to elaborate how did you improve the travel history, family tie?
For extending visa, they can apply for extension upon arriving there.
