Me and my husband have applied for PR with me as the principle applicant. We have received the ITA. We do not have any relatives in Canada. We are not taking any from our family with us. We applied through an agent. Now they are telling me that I need to provide some govt id like aadhar card or passport copy for my parents and siblings(though they are not coming). They say this is mandatory since Nov 2017. Is it true? Because my parents are separated without divorce. Am not in touch with my dad. It would be nearly impossible to get his govt id copy. My mom however has a letter from a lawyer that says that she and my dad have been separated since years and that he refuses to give divorce.

This cannot be true as far as I know. Wait for any other forum user to answer your question.

Unless you are claiming points for a relative in Canada, you do not need any documents for them.

No documents needed for your mom and dad unless you are claiming points because they are either permanent residents or citizens living in Canada. You do however need their info like date of birth, occupation and their addresses.
