I'm curious if the invites are sent based on when the application was submitted in Oct/Nov 2020 or is it very random?
Example: My friend submitted her application on Oct 13, 2020 (first day for applying) around 5 PM and she received an invite from CIC on Jan 05, 2021 (first day for receiving invites) at 9.40 AM MST. I hope thisis not true.

That's not true. I also submitted the file on the first day and am still waiting like many others

I think what the poster means is if they do random draws for each day then if you had applied the first day the form was opened and did not receive an invite it means you were not selected. Which following his theory would mean you were not selected. No one knows how they do the draws or why they spread it out over a 2 week period so its all just speculation at this point.

I can confirm, I applied on first day and still didn't get anything

My Brother just received the invite for our parents.. he applied from Ottawa .. email received at 11:05 AM

Ok... Interesting.. didn't saw it from that view point..
Rest its all speculation as you said.. don't know why a draw should take 2 weeks... just publish the results for all on the website.. and let emails flow at a later stage.. right now every time an email comes we pick up the phone to chek in hope and get disappointed to see another spam email

Just for average fun:
30,000 + 10% extra buffer = 33,000/10 days = 3,300 per day/5 hours= 660 invitations per hour/60 minutes = 11 invitations per minute/13 provinces + territories = roughly 1 invitation per each provine/territory per minute
So, in a day, each Province/Territory will receive 330 invitations @ 1 invitation every 1 minute
Makes sense?

Small suggestion. You might want to upweight ON, QC, BC and AB. They're the more populous provinces.
So maybe ON receives 5 invitations every minute.

I have been applying from the year this lottery system started, I am eligible from every point, but had bad luck from all these years. Lets hope for best this year. I am from BC, anyone from BC got anything yet?

Yes exactly... i applied on Oct 13, 2020 and nothing yet... so just wondering if i stop looking for the CIC email in my inbox and think about alternatives..
Just speculating - i know the wait is not fun for anyone...
But still hoping we get an invite - fingers crossed

It is just random I believe. I applied on Oct 27 2020 and I got the invitation today. My spouse applied the same day for her mother and nothing is coming up yet.

Keeping my hopes up still - the applications were accepted until Nov 03, 2020 so I believe it is random and they might still consider applications submitted early in the process
