Go for Tatkal passport, you will get this in less than 4 days. But the passport is for 2 years. Your passport validity must be more than a year.

Thank you for information.
Passport might not have 1 year validity left but I have to check. Personally, we already planned to renew in January 2024 so do not want to renew for now. Let's see what officer wants after my response.

My friend and I did a sponsorship app for our parents around the same time in 2019. And both got called for medical august last year and pre arrival sent in October. Upon curiosity of medical expiring my friend called IRCC and turned they sent out a passport request for him in January but online portal was never updated. I called on my parents behalf to see if my case was the same. Turned out my parents application was “stuck” in the decision making process, the agent said. They escalated my application and advised I filled virtual landing form.
Putting this out there Incase anyone is in the same boat

Virtual Landing form? Never heard about it. I am waiting for my parents PPR. received Pre-arrival 45 days back.

Virtual landing only applies to applicants inside Canada. Are your parents already in Canada?

no they are not. I haven't applied VisitVisa hoping that PR application will be completed. But I am in need of help right now and still on hold for PPR. In dilemma wether to proceed with VV or still wait!

Same boat; my parents' first medical will expire at the end of this month. We received a new medical request in May and passed it again in June.

I guess for a police certificate, as long as it can prove no criminal record til a recent date, expiration doesn't matter that much? I'm not sure about this. My parents' PPC doesn't have an expiration date.

Per-Arrival Invitation: Sep 17th, 2022
PCC: Sep 20th, 2022,
PCC Submitted: Oct 5th, 2022
Now, I am waiting for PR approval.
