Hi Folks,

I have a question concerning the ECAS, maybe someone has the answer to that.

I know we can link the ECAS to the UCI in order to have the updates directly online.

First question, do we have to wait for the AOC before doing the linking or it can be done after they have received the package in Ottawa (assuming a couple of days of delay)?

Second question:

As a naturalized citizen, I have an UCI but my parents don't have one (they only came as tourist once )

Am I going to be able to link their application to my UCI to follow the ECAS?

Honestly, I'm always confuse about who is applying on the PGP program, me or my parents, because is a "hybrid" process *(my signatures, their signatures ) I'm never 100% sure about that.

On the ECAS webpage they say:

"
At this time, you may use this on-line service if you have:
  • sponsored a member of the family class;"

So, I assume that I might be able to link their application using my personal UCI, but I might be wrong.

Anyone have a better idea about it?
Q1: Per my understanding, you'll be able to link your application once it is in their system. That means, you should be able to see the status in ECAS, which, will be reflected once you have the AOR (based on the conversations in the forum)

Q2: Use your UCI and your personal details to get ECAS status. Linking application and checking ECAS are two different things.

Hope this clarifies!

(the above answers are just based on my understanding/experience and in no way implies how CIC works)

Q1: the linking can be done after or when you are close to getting the AOR, which usually happens between 2-3 months after receiving the application.

Q2: if your parents came as tourists and have a tourist visa, they DO have a UCI number.......

Regarding your question about the process, the applicants for permanent residence are your parents, you are the sponsor

Oh and if you don't send the use of a representative form with the package, then you (as the sponsor) won't be able to link the application through your GCKey, only the principal applicant would be able to do this

Hey guys - Need your help!

I sent in my PGP application today but realized now that I missed the handwritten signature in Form IMM5669. Can I mail these forms separately and attach the invitation letter and a letter explaining that handwritten signature were missing in the earlier documents sent.

Please advice!! Your help will be greatly appreciated!
Resend the full application is your best bet!
ATB.

@diegosolano already pointed to the fact that unless I'm their representative (which I'm not ) I won't be able to link my gkeys to their application, ok so Q1 is solved :)

Following up on Q2, I'm just trying to have a grasp of how I'm going to follow the development of the process.
so, with MY UCI I will be able to follow the process ? this is where I'm confuse (we don't have my parents UCI ) using the ECAS portal?

and When can I see the change in Status? couple of days after they receive the package or a couple of months after?

I'm just trying to understand, what happens first?

Be able to see the ECAS status or receive an AOR?

Sorry about the questions guys, it should be more clear, but I'm kind stuck up on that step of the understanding, thanks for the help!

Hello Friends

My father got retired from work in early 2000. And he traveled to Canada few times on visitor visa

Now, My question is on Schedule A - Background Declaration form section 6 (Personal History)

Apart from mentioning that he got retired, do as I need to mentioned that he traveled multiple times on visitor visa GIVEN i already filled his entry and exit details in section 10 (Addresses) in same form.

I'm asking because I already have the signed copy couriered without above details.
Anyone on this?
What do people have written in personal history section of background declaration form ?

To my understanding of their processing;
PGP applications has two steps.
Step-1 officer will check our eligibility as sponsor. And we can check the status of our step (eligibility to be sponsor) using our UCI through ecas.
Step-2 will come later where officer will check eligibility of our parents. We can check step-2 processing through ecas using our parents UCI. And once we get AOR for step 2, our parents can link their application through online account to check further steps or to upload required/missing documents in future if asked by CIC.
As a sponsor we can only check our eligibility as a sponsor through ecas. (That's what my opinion is)

What if we haven't written our parents UCI number in forms? How do we check their case progress?

Situation: husband-wife-2 kids. Both husband wife applying for their parents PR and both are going to co-sign the others application.

My parents are going to come here in first week of June so I intend for them to get required documents from inlaws + their own and then take their sign and send it off.

I had some questions around the form filling:

1. In Financial Evaluation form imm5768e, I have a question on the table with numbers. Considering above family setup, I have doing
You - 1
Number of people in form - 2
Number of people I have co-signed but not yet in effect - 2
Other family members not included above - 3 (wife + two kids_
And hence I get 8

Plan to do the same with my wife's application for her parents.
Does this seem right?

2. In the same form, Employment History table - family size? This is immediately family size living with me = 4? Or taking into consideration parents + in laws = 8?

3. In Schedule A form eimm5669e - There is a field for spouse saying "Family name at birth". So this is where I mention my mother's maiden name or my mother's name when I was born? God, I feel terrible even asking this. But I'm confused.

I tried to put my question forth in the most detailed yet minimalist way, if something is not clear - please let me know.

Thanks in advance

Now a more open question to the ones who have already sent their application (mine arrives tomorrow )

I see some people who has sent their application on the first day, so it's been already 2 weeks that Ottawa has your documents.

Are you already able to see your status on ECAS or not yet?

(Just trying to have a feeling of how long after Ottawa receives my package I should be able to see the status )
