Does anyone recently have their application date on MyCIC changed to 2020? I applied back in June 2019, not sure what to make out of it since we haven't received any medical or correspondence from CPC-M

Disagree. Have you ever stayed in a Canadian (or other 1 st world countries) hotel room that was not comfortable at all?
Before booking the hotel anybody will see the reviews and why should I stay in a uncomfortable hotel? The hotels govt has listed are good ones in my opinion. Any way there is nothing personal. These are general opinions by individuals. This group is not for debate. Some people agree some disagree, it doesn't make any difference. Agree will accept - disagree won't.
I like the way Canuck 78 explained.....

Some people’s homes are dirty too. Every hotel has the potential for bed bugs even if it is at the fanciest hotels in the world. I also hope people know to avoid the blanket the put on the top of every hotel bed because it is often not cleaned regularly like the sheets. Given the extra cleaning and disinfecting that is required due to covid you may be sleeping in the cleneast hotel rooms you will ever stay in! Havimg to stay at a 3-5 star hotel in Canada for 3 nights is not what I would consider extremely uncomfortable.

Government has discouraged traveling since the first wave. The government approved facility is just an escalation of that discouraging. Hotel rooms can be uncomfortable.
It is about discouraging travel but equally about trying to prevent community spread of variants and trying to identify new variants. Most provinces are trying to work towards genotyping all of the positive covid samples.

My parents medical line vanished early Dec 2020, and till now nothing requested or updated yet. The additional documents line changed from received to reviewing. We got pre arrival Feb 13.
Hopefully, you are going to hear something soon! Where is your file? When did your parents pass medicals?

I am assuming mine vanished because they passed it on Feb 26th so it about the expire.

Hi Guys

I'm sponsoring my father who is 78 years old, sadly last week he had a stroke, as a result he lost the ability to walk by himself, I mean he need help to walk, and of course he'll need therapy . He’s ready with his biometrics, but he medical exams have not yet been requested.

Does anyone here have a clue how this could affect his process?
I'm very sad an worry because he need more than ever be with me here in Canada.

Thank you

I just wanted to share with you my experience for those who are thinking to do the same... My parents landed here feb 17th on their tourist visa. We're hoping that changing their address and being here in Canada physically present will at least help in moving forward with their pr application. Their medicals is due to expire on Mar 6 and we haven't heard back from IRCC.

At the day of their arrival, at the airport, only passengers, security and healthcare workers conducting the swab test are allowed inside the airport. All family, friends or any one picking up passengers has to be outside the airport. We're standing OUTSIDE the sliding doors in freezing weather. Some are literally looking like curbside pickup.

Their plane landed 6:49pm. It took approx 3 hrs to finish all the process inside the airport. They were interviewed constantly as well. After 3 days, we've been receiving calls left and right from the government checking if we're following the quarantine protocols. Just this morning someone knocked on the door and interviewed my dad verifying same info as the one on the phone.

With this new hotel requirement whether or not your parents will be affected, the process in place is already stressful as it is. We just hope that this new restriction will not apply for them as it will be so hard not to see them for the next 3 days from their arrival.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I plan to bring my parents here too on visitor visas. What kind of relationship proof did they have to show while boarding and landing? My birth certificate doesn't have parents names, so might have to carry additional docs like school certificate and a letter from my side, of course passport and PR card copies too.

My parents medical passed late December of 2019, the medical pass line vanished early December of 2020. The office is CPC-M. Parents are here under extended visitor visor.
Hopefully we both get some good news soon.

We give them copy of my birth cert and marriage cert. Maybe you can get a sworn affidavit stamped by an attorney? Stating that they are your parents.. that might help too.

You r right, some agree some not. Still doesn’t make sense what’s happening. Why air is different from land crossing. You do understand that many would land in the States and drive through. But they required only testing and no hotel stay. The statistics shows 1.4 % cases related to international flights. Obviously, majority is from USA board crossings and community spread...
