Parent Super Visa Renewal Options

My parents are on a Super Visa which expires in January 2018. I am looking for advice on my options for renewal (or reapplication).
So:
1) Can I apply for an extension?
2) Do I re-apply from scratch?
3) Do they have to leave the country to apply or can they apply from Canada?

2) Yes
