Hello Everyone,

I would like to apply for a Super Visa on behalf of my mother in law. When I go to submit an online application, it asks to create a GCKey Account. Should this be done in my name? Or will I need to create one for my MIL using her credentials.

Hi, I personally don't think it matters. But just to be on the safe side, I created and email address and a GCKey corresponding to that email address, both in my mom's name when preparing and submitting the application for Visit Visa on her behalf. And yes, it got approved.

Thank you for letting me know, I will create the account in my MIL's name. When doing an online application, can I submit everything on her behalf? Do we need to print out the form and sign it and then scan it to upload? I have not gotten very far in the application yet and just doing some background work before we actually submit next month.

Hi,
I recently submitted a less than 6 months visit visa.. I too filled it in, printed, signed and then scanned.. When I tried uploading the Scanned Application form, the system rejected it. But when I uploaded the actual filled up pdf (that wasn't signed), it accepted it. And also, the visa is now approved. But this is my experience with Short term visit visa. I do not know how it will be for Super Visa.. But don't expect it to be any different. Please let me know your experience.

Thanks.

Congrats on getting your application approved. Hopefully we will have the same results! Will keep you posted after we submit our application.

Hello,

In terms of invitation letter, how honest should we be? My wife is currently pregnant and expected to be due sometime in January. Our intention is to have her mother come here from Vietnam to help with taking care of the baby while we transition back to work. We will fully support MIL during her stay and want to max out the 2-year term right away before she has to go back to VN for re-entry.

MIL's current family ties are two children (both married with kids), FIL, a house and some parcels of land. FIL is a handyman and is semi retired. MIL is self employed at the local fish market. Will this be enough to show ties back to VN and that she wont overstay?

Do I be 100% candid with her intent to come and just help raise our child for the first two years? Or do I say she wants to come here to experience Canada? My concern is how long do you need to stay to say you've experienced a new country. Surely requesting two years is a long time.

When we book her ticket here, do we need to book the return flight as well? Since it's a Super Visa with a 2-year stay, can we just do 1-way and tell the officer we haven't decided when her stay will end?

This reason is generally viewed as working illegally/unpaid as a visitor.

Evidence of these reasons will certainly help.

One reason: To spend time with you and do some sightseeing/travel around, etc.

Don't book any tickets for the visa application. After she is approved, she can travel on a one-way ticket

Meant to type *September*, was thinking of January since we tried to apply for the PGP EOI, but didn't get through. Was half thinking to mention that in the post, but didn't think it would be relevant since we're now going the Super Visa route.

@Bryanna - May I please ask for your advice regarding two more questions?
  • Insurance - Will I need to pay for two years upfront if my MIL intends to stay for the whole duration?
  • Proof of Relationship - Will we need to supply documentation that confirms PoR for my MIL & Wife? Or is a simply parent/daughter mention in the invitation letter sufficient?
Thank you

No. You need to include medical insurance coverage for at least 12 months for her super visa application.

Proof of relationship is required

Thank you Bryanna you are most helpful. I see you've replied to my question in the other thread regarding the Proof of Relationship and can take it from here.

About the Insurance, for year two, that is optional correct? Highly recommended, but not mandatory to continue staying or re-entry?

For the super visa application, a one year insurance coverage would suffice. You can renew/extend the insurance later depending on the length of her allowed stay
