Hello,
i have heard about CIC to open immigration of parents in 2013-2014, with a quota of roughly about 5000 per year.

I could not find the forms online and when i called the call center i was told to check again in january-2014, the forms currently available are not accurate.
Suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
JB

I'm not sure what you want suggestions on. You have to wait until Jan 2014 when the new forms are made available.

Main details on the program is here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/backgrounders/2013/2013-05-10b.asp

Happy New Year,
i see the forms have arrived, i was going through the eligibility criteria and i have a few questions, regarding the minimum income clause.

My Salary for the last 3 years is around 70K , but my status changed in 2012 (Married). My wife started working middle of 2012.
which also means that she hasn worked for 2 years only, and she cant sponsor her parents by herself.

can i sponsor my and her parents too?, if i meet the minimum income criteria.

thanks

Yes you can sponsor your own parents and her parents as well. You would be the sponsor for your parents and your wife would be the sponsor for her parents with you being the co-signer. Two separate applications would have to be made I believe.

Yes would need 2 separate applications, for each set of parents.

Also for family size, i believe you need to account for all parents. So if you, your spouse, 2 of your parents and 2 of hers, that would be family size of 6. Your combined incomes would have to meet the LICO+30% starting in 2010.

To be very honest though, if you are just beginning to read the forms now there is a good chance you will not be able to gather all info and complete the forms in time for the 5000 cutoff before program closes. Many people have already submitted their applications yesterday.

One of the application would list the husband, wife and husband's 2 parents. The other application would list the husband, wife, husband's parents in process and the wife's 2 parents. However does the application list people are in PR process or only those granted PRs. Would the wife's parents only list the husband, wife and wife's 2 parents as the husband's parents are not PRs yet.

I believe that you have to include undertakings currently in-progress as well but not yet in force. So in a sponsor's application, they would also need to consider any potential undertakings from apps they are also co-signing for, or apps their co-signer is applicant on. If the husband will be undertaking BOTH applications, then both should need to qualify at max potential family size of 6. Not certain on the exact rules here though.

I agree with you on this measure. However one could apply for one set of parents initially since the other parents' application could be applied at a later time. However with the 5000 cap requirement, it is likely that they may have to include 2 applications at same time and hope for the best.

Yes that makes sense too. If you indicate one is the "first" application, it will only need to meet family size of 4. Then if the "second" application is submitted after, only that one will need to be judged on family size of 6. If you don't meet that... the first application will continue but second would be rejected.

Although as you mention, if you send them both at the same time, what if CIC opens and assesses the "second" application first? It gets confusing!

I know it can be confusing. If you say you are supporting 6 but the other application is rejected, then you are really supporting 4. May be harder to support lico +30% for 6 when you are in fact supporting 4.

Hi There,

I hope this question will be related enough for this thread. I am applying to sponsor my parents. My dad will be the principal applicant bringing my mom along. My brother who is 29 years old still lives with them as they support him through university. Should he be including him as his family member even though he does not plan on accompanying them to Canada? They note that children under 22 but I just want to make sure we fill out the application correctly.

Thanks so much!

hello guys,

I do have a question about the total income for the parent sponsorship;

Does the UCCB (Universal Child Benefits) have to be subtracted out from the total income for the sponsor+co-signer?

Also, if you were single in 2010 for an example, do you still have to consider the count for the family size (for the LICO+30%) based on your status right now?

Thanks

Your brother is no longer considered a dependent of your parents. There was going to be a cutoff of 19 down from 22. But that hasn't come into effect in time for this year parents sponsorship rules. Regardless your brother is over 22 years old thus can't be part of this parent sponsorship.

Thanks a lot,
I would be filing my parents visitors and immigration approximately same time.
Could this have any possible issues?, i remember after i got married i had to file for my wife's immigration, filing visitors visa was not a viable option for her.

Thanks
