would one say paper application better than online?
Paper usually takes a little longer (depending in the visa office).

There is no such thing as "better".

coz i just dont understand the deafening silence with an online application.
There is nothing to understand. That is normal processing.

I know you answered me in a blunt way saying there is nothing to understand

18th day and no response. yet site says processing time is 13days. Anyway, maybe I will not get feedback.its ok, I was coming for training and I will just stay home sweet home.

I think its unfortunate when every applicant is viewed as an opportunist trying to get way through to Canada. Some of us live comfortably in our home countries we are happy and we travel because the world is global village we want to learn and share experience. There are so many canadians we warmly welcome here. they dont even struggle with visa to come here.

Anyway I am at home - my home sweet home. Atleast I have learnt that there are still some hostile counties in this process compared to the places which are as developed as canada such as UK, USA, SA, europe etc but the process is not as hostile.

Thanks for all the info provided

out of over the 100 countries in the world, I will never accept invitations to provide lectures and trainings in Canada - very hostile process indeed.

This is confusing, you say you find the process to visit Canada 'hostile', yet after a few months you want to reapply for a 5 years visa?

In any case, the process for a multiple TRV is the same. You cannot choose the number of entries or the validity period. The VO decides that based on your application. The validity of a multiple reentry visa will be till the expiry of the passport, or less.
