Don't be upset. Remember there are still paper applicants from 2019 and 2020 still in the queue. IRCC eventually will do away with the paper process and transition completely to E-app. So they must clear all the paper apps to reach such an objective.
Also if you check the online applications from 2021, most of them are getting completed within 14 months. So rest assured we are returning to original processing standards and a good lot of you will become citizens soon.

But it could be years before they clear out the backlog thereby creating another backlog. As far as I know, some people and families still cannot apply online, even though the IRCC road map showed that they were going to open it to everyone by this time. There is no accountability, just delays and excuses.

Yes, my application took a total of 355 days and I was expecting it to complete in under 450 days based on the trends from SCR/Toronto Applicant statuses. I have been tracking the progress made by SCR office for the last 3 months and those trends kept my expectations in check.

I understand the frustration of many here as I had to wait 7 months with no updates and literally lost my mind when I heard BG completed for my friends who applied after me. I dont want others to go through my situation and hence trying to share solace through the data and trends and set expectations based on data from your IRCC office.

Let's just keep this forum constructive and helpful for each other. We all need it. Cheers

People that applied in April and May 2022 on paper have passed background check and have already taken the test and are waiting for the oath. while people who applied online in 2021 have seen no movement in their files. Do you think people are just concerned for no reason. We have seen how easily IRCC can abandon or forget files until you make noise about it. it should not take more than 6 months to process a Citizenship application for most routine files. You can't expect people to wait for 3 to 4 years for a simple application, it affects jobs, travel, family it really makes it difficult to plan.

Exactly. They have been misleading us since day 1. They claim to be hiring more staff, they also claim to clear out the backlog, claimed to be simplifying the process, claim to begin self administered oath, and now recently they claim to send e-citizenship certificate immediately after oath. All have not happened.

May 2022: 236091 total applications, 168605 approved.

Meaning, passport applications did not increase; the reason for the delays is that they became lazier as they were getting paid for doing nothing during covid19!

Someone had to wait 1509 days to get their passport. But the best one is, someone waiting 4596 days = ~12 years 7 months to get a Refugee Travel Document.

Thanks for the share. However, lots of facts are missing, and it would be unfair to interpret this as laziness. It could be staffing shortage or the impact of covid situation still lingering. May 2022 should be compared to May 2019 as travel times (holidays kick start). The issue could be related to the backlog accumulated in the pandemic when double the number of applicants was received. You are not showing the Jan-April 2022 numbers, because if these are astronomical, even if the number of applicants of May 2022 reduce, you will still end up with delays from previous months.

February: 178546 received, 133658 approved, compared to 213981 received and 226816 approved 2 years ago!
March: 284719 received, 169861 approved, compared to 108055 received and 150529 approved 2 years ago as they closed the borders too late.
April: 268368 received, 146586 approved.

It just proves that they constantly approve less applications than they did before covid19 because they became lazy and almost 50% less efficient!
