Do carry SOME (CAD$50,000 will be over kill ;D ) cash with you to survive at least 3 weeks, as any delay in encashing the demand draft will put a financial strain on you.

If you already have an account in Canada already you can transfer money directly, if you have a foreign currency account in Pakistan.

But before you do any of this, make sure you understand how much money you want to declare in Canada. CAD$ 50K might put you in the high income category, do this only if it does not make difference to you.

Has anyone got idea on urgent PR card processing? I guess its 3 weeks...all you need to do is show return tickets for more than 3 weeks and pay fee.
Where to pay fee? Online or at the time of immigration n how much?
Is urgent PR valid for immigrating first time or its only for renewal PR card?

thanks to neokol, rizmayo, shaziabibi, ali asim.
am based in Saudi Arabia.

Regards,

thanx rizmayo for ur suggestion. :)
it does make a difference if we r put on a higher income bracket but in a well documented tax regime like tht of Canada it is next to impossible to declare ur networth anything other than wht it is actually unless u want to keep some assets back in ur home country.
i attended IOM and CIIP orientation sessions and i figured tht its best to declare everythin which u are or will b bringing to Canada. so it doesnt create any confusion in the future.

what do you mean by high income category as this is the first landing?

if the amount is transfered through bank account than 50,000CAD will not put him in high income category???

Please clear my understanding. Thank you

A lot of people are doing this (mostly as you mentioned by keeping some assets back home (dollar accounts, property, etc.) ) and have no problem later when they need to lease property in Canada or sponsor family.

IOM is a sponsored session, so they would of course be advising what is best for Canadian economy.

I am not advising you to hide your assets, however a discussion with some friends who have already settled, on this matter will help you more with pros and cons, than these sessions, afterwards you can decide further course of action.

You are the master of your own destiny ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
