Assalamualaikum, How is everyone?

Congrats everyone for the visas, PPRs, Meds or Re Meds.

I wanted to have information abt NOC for Driving License.

My DL was issued from Traffic Authority Multan , on 01 Feb, 2012. Does it mean I have to take the NOC after 01 Feb, 2014 to complete the 02 years or I can take it now with me and can provide to Ontario Licensing Authority as proof.

Or I should wait and take the NOC after completion of two years, and then take the NOC from Traffic office Multan to submit it to Ontario Licensing Authority for applying for G2 License.

Please advice.

Nashe
Now as you have landed, you can not claim further driving experience in Pakistan unless come back.

Usma,

I have seen this link before... this is the normal procedure for the persons who do not have an NOC from Pakistan (as generally is the case)....

As many seniors of this forum who have already landed, have confirmed that the Canadian authorities do accept the NOC brought from Pakistan, attested by the Foreign Office, so do take NOC.... it will save your 3-4 weeks...

I have read somewhere that in Alberta they sometimes do not accept NOC (like one of our senior Mighty_Echoes stated)..may be he did not got attestation from Foreign Office, who knows....on the other hand people like Cock&Bull, Khalid_civil & others have used the NOC which was easily accepted in Ontario...

So what is the harm in taking NOC.??? I have already made this NOC from local transportation authority....and got attested from Foreign Office.. it is a very simple procedure, hardly takes a day....

International driving license is not required if you don't want to drive immediately after landing in Canada, which is generally the case....

Yes personally I got NOC letter from Islamabad traffic police ( SSP Office), Alberta Registry did not accept that letter and asked to get the licence attested from Pakistan High Commission Vancouver, B.C. which took more two months, It is better to adhere to the procedures indicated in the required documents. If you bring NOC from Pakistan it will not harm any thing, but will not work in many cases. As son as you reach Canada start processing your local driving licence as your local driving licence can get you a good paid survival and even many of the professional jobs require local driving licence. Do it immediately after arrival.

What happened with me is I had driving licence issued in 2001 from Islamabad and was expired in 2005 but as in routine i never renewed it, when coming to Canada I went to SSP office to renew my licence which was expired 7 years ago. they gave me a new learner licence and i got new licence in Dec 2012 and landed in the same month in Canada, I submitted my new driving licence which was valid with international licence but Again I was given learner licence GDL7 based on my previous driving experience which was few days. Again I went to them with my old expired (7years ago) licence to show my previous driving licence, they asked to verify it i first got it verified from Islamabad but did not work, They did not accept the verification, then I sent it to Pakistan High Commission, Vancouver, luckily they verified it and now I got exemption from learner and I have booked my Advanced test on 31 August, will take the test and In Shah Allah Will get my Alberta operator Licence.

Did you got your NOC attested from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Pakistan before submitting to Alberta registry??

Now a days Islamabad Traffic police is issuing a renewed license which mentions the initial date of issue that is 2001 in your case... I wonder why your renewed license did not show it at the first place?

they did not renew because if your expiry date exceeds 3 years then your previous licence become void/cancelled, I got a new/fresh licence in Dec 2012, it showed as i am a new driver. now got exemption based on my expired licence.
