AOA Everyone

A great initative especially considering people immigrating to Canada from Pakistan. I would really appreciate if some one could provide their input in my pending application.

The journey started in Oct 2009 when i had applied for immigration under FSW category. The medical request was received in Sept 2012, subsequently medicals were conducted in Nov 2013. I had paid the Right of Landing fee in May 2012. Lately i received in email on Feb 25, 2013 requiring copy of passports along with 2 photographs each for every family members and one updated information chart. The same was sent to them on April 06, 2013. Can some one tell me how much further time would it take to get the Visa / completion of the immigration process. I am based in Lahore (Pakistan).

Secondly is it true that time to receive the PR Card is far less in Alberta than to Ontario. The Health program of Alberta is far better then Ontario in terms of issuance of Card. What i have heard is Health card is delivered within a week from date of lodging of application and the Health coverage starts right away, where as it takes about 3 months to receive the Health Card in Ontario for which it is advised to seek Health Insurance for the remaining period.

Hi All,

I have a question for everyone who has already landed. Where and how did you get your demand draft made in Karachi? Normally how much does an exchange company charge per dollar for their services? And is it advisable to carry all the funds in cash?

Zeeshan
If i remember correctly RPRF was paid via DD and that costs me Rs.2000/- as fees and there was a exchange rate involved. If you go to the website http://www.forex.pk/open_market_rates.asp the first rate mentioned there is for USD DD. You have to pay Selling rate because the exchange company is selling you dollars. Further, you may find alot of exchange houses at Nursery and I.I. Chundrigar Road. I think National Bank Exchange Company would be a better choice since this is a subsidiary of govt owned bank so less risk is involved. Moreover, its exchange rate was competitive.
I found one more avenue which is called FTT (Foreign TT) which can be done from your bank. If u have FC account in your bank then you have to pay Rs.3000/- and they can transfer a mximum of USD25000 to Canadian account and the transfer will receive in 3 days. They may ask for the visa copy. In DD the transfer usually takes a month or so before the money is realized.
Good Luck.

That means you have got the PP1 and now you are waiting for PP2. The official wait time is 6 weeks. I got PP2 in 15 days. People have got it even in 6 days. Anyhow, don't panic. Prepare yourself to land in Canada.

I read it somewhere. Anyhow, this may not be the decisive factor for settling in Canada. The decision of applicants under FSW category should be based on potential job market and overall adaptability.

Dear Brothers,

By the Grace of God I have received PPR2 today :D

I received my original docs on 13th Apr 2013.

Please note that I got PPR2 directly (LVO office skipped PPR1) on 21-Mar-2013 but Islamabad office did not issue visa because my passports were no more valid as I had applied for renewal of passports. Later on LVO issued me PPR1 on 02-Apr-2013.

I Received PPR2 few hours back
