My wife applied for child tax benefit. Today we have received a letter says few things missing in your letter. I am writing the exact wording of letter below:-
"You did not provide your spouse or common law partner's statement of income. The Canada child tax benefit is using family net income. We use the income reported in Canadian income tax for any years or parts of years that the person is in Canada. We also need to know the income your spouse or common law partner received (in Canadian dollars) before entering Canada to complete our calculation. Please note that he or she has to file income information even if the amount is nil ($0.00).

You: 2012 $ ____________ 2011 $ _________________

Spouse or common Law partner: 2012 $ _______________ 2011 $ _____________"

I have landed on 25 December 2012. My wife is not working at the moment. I am working but when we applied I was not working and wrote nil in income section.
What should we write in above income information of 2011 and 2012?

Brother, you have to mention the income you had in Pakistan OR anywhere in the World for 2011 and for 2012, till your arrival in Canada. They will calculate your returns on your World wide income. Whatever your income was, mention it in CAD. I did the same.

Not now.. but if you got them with you, then you have to give the income tax returns of 2011 and 2012 when filing your Income tax returns here in Canada. I suggest you to consider hiring a Tax account for the year. I did hire one, here in Calgary last month, he is doing everything on my behalf for a very nominal fee.

Also if is there anything they mentioned for validity of passports requirement?
