I along with my wife landed at Calgary yesterday. Everything went so smooth. Officers were very nice. Immigration took about 15 minutes and then about 10 minutes at Canada Custom desk to enter my goods to follow list. I landed there 6:00 PM and I had booked the next flight from Calgary to Fort Mcmurray at 11:40 but since we (I and my wife) were free from all activities at 7:30. I requested Air Canada customer service to put me on 8:25 flight which luckily they did without any charge as my orignial flight was overbooked by one person.

Officer didn't ask anything special apart from how much money we are carrying, I told them about 3500 CAD, and he didn't even ask about the rest of settlement funds proof or anything. Officer was very nice, he explained that PR card will be sent to our address in two months time and if I leave canada before I get those cards I should inform the embassy.

If any member have any confusion regarding anything about landing then you can send me a personal message on this forum, I shall reply soon.

Alhamdulillah, received PR1 on October 29, 2012 after 12 days of medical reached London.

Wait starts for PR2 from October 31, 2012.

Well I am planning to land in same march but after 20th. My destination would be toronto as weather would be fine for my children. Also for jobs, opportunities are there but with a bit high competition. Another good destination would be calgary but weather there during that time would be a bit harsh for family with small kids.

Brother, I had around 10 quotes and from those 10 finalized 1 after sever bargain. I think it is the cheapest. If you know any other option/route please share, it will be beneficial for me and for others as well.

Brother all international airlines are offering only 1 baggage of 23 kg per person plus 7 kg hand carry irrespective of the age of the passenger. I mean you will be allowed 23+7 kg each for adults, child and infants. However I heard PIA offers 2 baggage of 23. but not sure. And sorry I didn't inquire about excess baggage yet.

You are most welcome dear. Actually I booked so early because of the fact that March is usually preferred for travelling to Canada and Discounted/Low Fares of Economy Class expires very quickly. Seats are already not available in some days on the route London to Calgay for Low discounted fares.

Brother I just want to share some research I have carried out on weather. I am also very much concerned about weather as initially I was thinking for Toronto or Vancouver. But after knowing some facts about Vancouver and Calgary, changed decision in the favor of Calgary. First of all, in the whole winter Vancouver receives sever rain fall which practically bothers significantly. Secondly, in the whole Canada, Calgary has the highest number of sunniest days in a year. Thirdly, temperature do drops significantly in night time when we are in our home, if I am not wrong average minimum temp. in Jan/Feb in Calgary in -20 but due to the Chinook Winds the ice melts very quickly in the morning as the sunrises resultantly, Calgary also claimes to have to warmest winter days in the whole Canada.

I shared my opinion in a positive way. No offense at all, please.
