My Immigrant visa is valid until 5th May,2013. Me and my whole family will be landing on 11th Jan.2013 at Canada (Vancouver) for the first time. My Pakistani passports will be expiring on 23rd May, 2013. Can I renew the passport from Pakistan now and then leave for Canada or its not wise to do it now. Some one told me that your passport with Immigrant visa should not be cancelled until you land there.
Today,I visited the Passport office at home station, they told me that we can issue you an urgent passport in ten to 15 days and will not cancel this old passport. They will stamp it & I will attach it with the new one. So please advice what should i do. What is law ( passport applicable) for landing.?

HI friend

2 month ago I made my new passport from Lahore but my visa of Kuwait was stamped on old passport they put canceled stamped on my old passport but it was not any problem during immigration I just attached my old passport with new passport. I don’t think you will face any problem in Pakistan because your visa will not cancel your old passport will be attached with new passport. But I don’t have any idea about immigration on Canadian airport.

In my opinion no need to renew it now. Get it renewed from Canada once it is expired.

My consultant is afraid to hav a ppr1 request in december..

Why am I not getting PPR 2 while it has been a month I have sent the documents as a response to PPR 1. What might be wrong?? Is there still any chance of rejection???????????????

Maximum time to receive PPR-2 is six weeks. So first wait for 6 weeks & then shoot CSE.

Very similar to my case.. I guess we will get PPR in jan 2013 Insh'Allah.

Dear Friends,

For immigrant visa, there is no restriction for 6 months passport validity. As it is mentioned in PPR letter.

"Your visas will expire one year after the date of your medical examinations. However, if your passport or
any of your family members’ passports are due to expire before this date; all visas will expire on the date
that the first passport expires. You must enter Canada on or before the expiry date on your visas."

Thanks I also hope it comes soon coz there will be christmas holidays in dec and we eill have to wait for another 15 days to send our passports to islamabad. This is so very frustrating....

there is only two official holidays for CHC London so dont worry they work as usual after holidays like after our eid holidays. pls check
