It has been exactly 6 months since medical exams for our family were completed. Considering the time passed, I wanted to inquire about the next step in the process.
Please let me know if there's anything pending at my end and/or when I can expect my application to move forward to the next step.

Got a reply within a couple of hours, saying,

Background checks are currently outstanding on this application.

Guess I have no choice but to wait it out.

I got the rates of Rs. 72500 for Turkish Airlines for Oneway to Karachi-Toronto in Feb 2013. I suggest, check this out, you may save some amount. And in any case there will be plane change, Like in Emirates it will be in Dubai, and in Turkish it will be in Istanbul. Since I have to purchase tickets for 2 adults and 2 children, so I am bit price calculated.

No, i did not checked for infants, but its normally 10% of adult ticket + taxes, so it must be approximately, 10,000.- you may check it at http://www.turkishairlines.com/

Also there is an option of Economy / Comfort on Turkish Airlines, where, Karachi - Istanbul is Economy Class and Istanbul - Toronto is Comfort Class (upper grade of Economy but not Business) which has more comfortable seats and services, and this is with addition of some 10-12000 per ticket.

An URGENT query to seniors,

I have relative in USA, who are ready to send amount in Canada for show money, but if they send to me in Karachi, that is US$20,000.- there will be 1) huge transaction charges by Western Union or Hawala whatever, and 2) It will be tough for them to show this huge amount to transfer for their tax purposes. So please advice if there is a possibility to open an account in Canadian Bank (suggest any please) and ask them to deposit the amount there and there and I may show the bank statement on arrival as proof of funds, is it possible and okay if yes how and if not is there any other way to get the funds from USA to Canada as show money on arrival?

NO. Clear instructions are mentioned in the PPR form. Please follow that. Other wise there will be a chance to ask the photo again!!

I have got my decision made on my application and got my passports with stamped visa n COPR on 17-10-2012. Well dear seniors, LVO still have my original professional certificates (JOB related letters and certificate which i sent while updating 2 years ago), what should i do to have them back?should i send a CSE to LVO?or is there any other way to ask them????

i was in the same situation. send CSI to LVO. They instructed me that my documents r on way back to Pakistan. After few days received call from visatronix, main(TCS) office lahore, and collected my original documents from them. secondly bohat mubark for ur visa and COPR.

Very Easy, ask them to make a demand draft in your name for the amount and you can send it show as required and return it to them for cancellation after your procedure.

My medical and landing fee submitted in April and since then i am waiting for the passport request. Approx. 6 months already over. Is this normal?
Can Visa officer reject even after asking for medical and landing fee?
