Congratulations.
How was the service of Qatar Airways if you don't mind sharing.
Qatar was very good but at montreal, we had to take air canada, which wasn't that good....qatar airlines entertain u alot with food and refreshments, during almost 16 hour journey...and each seat has a tv touch screen ,that helped my kids glued to seat during whole journey....

I am going to land in 1st week of August...

what you people advise about funds?

Should i take all in cash and if yes then how much is the limit per person. We are 3 persons including infant.

or Should i take cash and bank draft? some say to avoid bank draft because it will incur more charges and take more time to clear it...

please advise...

May God help you in all your deeds!
Carry as much as possible and legal to take out from the Pakistani airport or any other port of departure, rest you should carry as DD in CAD so you'll not incur any bank charges in Canada.
As you are beginning new chapter of your life, pls follow the procedure as guided by your God/religion.

Further, it is my personal request that after landing and becoming the PR of Canada, do not start/continue to abuse Pakistan or Pakistani people. Never forget that whatever we achieved is only because of this beautiful country.

Dear whats the limit per person for cash?

I am planning to land in August from Saudi arabia.

I have a question related to POF.

Can anyone tell me if he or she has shown bank statement as POF at the time of landing. Also if i make DD, it is considered as cash??? From KSA i m not allowed to carry more than 60K SAR which is equivalent to 20K CAD and i have to show POF of around 25K....

Please advise who has landed recently.

Thanks

Hi Fahad

Best of luck for your future in Canada. As per my knowledge u cannot carry more than US$ 10k per person as per Pakistani laws. Seniors may help more in this regard.

I am also planning to travel in September.

Thanks

Just Check ECAS and fourth line updated

Decision Made

Pakistan is one of the best places to live...its been almost a week here and still feeling homesick....missing Paki air too much, especially the sound of Azaan.....

i shared my experience regarding POF, when u land in canada, thee Air line ppl will handover u declaration card, its better u fill it while u r in plane...
if u are carrying cash above 10k $, whether u r travilng as a person or family, u have to declare it on the form....
in my case, i had less than 10k $ as a cash and rest amount in the form of bank statment but my Immigration officer didnt ask me to show bank statemnt or cash....

I would suggest taking half in cash, and about half in DD in CAD. (do not get USD as you will lose upon conversion)
The DD can take a month to clear/deposit the funds into account.
You must have the proof of funds upon landing, normally officers don't ask to verify it all, but you never know.
Even then, ALSO carry your KSA bank statement along if you also have money in it.....

Don't worry, you can always tell immigration officers about limit of carrying cash from KSA. They are usually aware of this anyways.

From Pakistan, the cash limit has been reduced to $5000 usd per adult to reduce cash leaving the country.
So DD in CAD is good for Pakistanis.

@Maha Shahzad: thanks for sharing experience. And yes you will definitely miss Pakistan here specially in Ramzan, Eids, Holidays, etc.
I personally feel living in USA is better as due to larger Pakistani expat community in it's big cities and they're more celebrative.
The Pakistani population is not that large in Canada yet, and most are hand-to-mouth, unfortunately.

Guyz people who have landed already what is the best way to secure accomodation before arrival in toronto. As m planning to move in sept but dont have any relative or friend there. Suggestions needed plz

Thank you canvis for your advise. I just want to confirm one thing, is DD need to be declared at the KSA or Pakistan customs,If DD is exceeding the maximum allowable limit lets say from KSA it is 60K Suadi Riyal or DD is not a declarable form of money?

There is no maximum limit on DD/TC........ even no need to mention!
