Hi Friends,

I landed in Canada in Feb and have pretty much settled down in London ON. The only major items remaining on my checklist is the driving license :(. I got G1 license as soon as I arrived here and have been practicing with my relatives occasionally (once/twice a week).

Now I've booked a driving license test next week and wanted to ask for opinion whether I should go for Full G directly or G2 first. Since I'm located in a smaller city, I though going for Full G makes sense but I'm getting mixed opinions. Would appreciate if anyone can share experience in this regard and about London drive test center in particular.

Thanks,
Fahad

Have you checked if you are eligible to attempt G license directly (claimed the experience etc) ? G test is definitely tougher than G2 as there are more things they test and less margin for mistakes. Keep in mind that if you fail the G test, next time you'll have to attempt G2 first and then G.
Driving with relatives is not enough. I would strongly encourage you to have at least 1-2 sessions with a driving instructor as they can point out things an ordinary person can't. Usually they'll be able to tell you if you are good to attempt a G2 or G test or if you need more practice.
Good luck with the test.

Thanks for the response. I'm eligible due to the driving experience letter from Pakistan and already booked my test. I've taken 2 driving lessons as well and the instructor said my driving is alright and I could pass but he recommended G2 as its easier to pass. Thanks for the suggestions.

Applicants who have received their passports stamped, i have quick query. Did you courier your passports to Islamabad or did you guys personally submit your passport to the Islamabad embassy ?? also which courier company did you use?

Thanks

I was asked to submit my Passport to VFS Global Canadian VAC Karachi. I visited there office (located near Gizri Flyover), paid the fee and submitted my passport and Alhamdulillah against all expectations, i revisited VFS office to collect my stamped passport along with COPR only a week after my passport submission.

I was asked to send the passport by courier and that the passsport will be returned via TCS by its cash on delivery service.
So i sent the passport via TCS to CHC Isb. Got the passport back after about 3 weeks.

take some more lessons, and go for G, and get a ministry approved training certificate from driving instructor (to lower insurance premiums for vehicle)
they usually send it to MTO directly once you pay them into your record with MTO

AOA and EID MUBARIK all Muslims... ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
Ok so we landed in canada, on 15th july 2015, just wanted to share my experience.....
we took Qatar airways, from Pak to doha and then to Montreal, a good experience....at Montreal after a quite long wait ( and tired screaming toddlers, and French foreigner passing sarcastic looks at our kid's behaviour)...
...
an immigration officer called our name and took us in a quiet office....very politely he asked about cash we r carrying, we told him and he didnt ask to us to show it to them...then he asked about luggage we r carrying, so we showed them list of accompanying goods we r carrying( do remember to make it as it saved us alot of time).....and after a interview of less than 10 min, he handed over us COPR.....
and then we ran for our next flight to the city we r currently staying....
so it was a quite easy procedure...
today we r going to apply for Social insurance number, have already applied for PR card
and yes still having jet lag.....
wish u all the best tooo

Hi Fahad,
I would suggest to go for full G license as you would be saving on car inssurance as well. This way you will pay once and if you go for G2 then you gotta pay again for Full G.
They didn't accept my driving experience letter from Pakistan so I had to get G2 and paying $275 per month as car insurance.
