The assets are not in a single account.they are actually in 3 accounts all in the name if my father. One is the savings account, one is the salary account and one is a foreign currency account. Amount has fluctuated alot, at times going as low as under a million PKR but at time exceeding 4-5million.. But that was due to the investments my father makes.. The balance at time of applying would be however around 4.4mill pkr. Plus some property of around 5.6million.
I was in a similar situation. I would suggest you to pay the tuition fee in advance for the first year preferably or the first semester if you are unable to pay for the whole year. The fluctuations would put a doubt in the mind of Visa Officer that the money you have might be borrowed from someone to show proof of funds so by paying the tuition fee, you erase that doubt. Just make sure to read the refund policy of the university. If it is 100% refund policy then go for it.

I have paid the fees for the first semester.. The tuition fee quoted on the offer letter is CAD 30,000..And I have paid CAD 10,000..
I will also mention on my SOP that the amount is primarily for the use of funding my education in Canada and not borrowed from anywhere, the bank balance are my father's savings which have been saved only to fund my education..
I guess that will clear that doubt to some extent??

My name is Syed Raza haider and I will be applying my study permit for sept intake in the coming days for studying in York university.

The only issue I am facing is that my far relatives are sponsoring me for my studies because my father was shot dead in 2014 and I am the only eldest son of my family with two younger brothers and a sister so they took full responsibility of giving me a good education abroad. I want to know what docs should be required plus what is your say on the above condition guys?

These are the docs that you will need:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/student.asp

You can get the document checklist and the required forms for your country here^

Requirements of embassy for study permit....
1. Canada application form( 4 forms available on CIC website)
2. Statement of purpose (SOP, write 2-3 pages)
3. Acceptance letter from university
4. Offer letter from university
5. Evidence of fee paid to university
6. IELTS photocopy ( must be notarized from notary public)
7. All educational documents photocopy (attested from hec, ibcc, and notarized from notary public: For Pakistani applicants only )Note: This is for paper based application since they wont return your original certificates, you can upload original certificates if you are applying online.
8. Bank statement( original documents of bank which shows your details of account and it must be six months old account. It can also work with 4 months if you pay the tuition fee for the first semester/year upfront)
9. Source of income( How much do you and/or your sponsor earns; you would have to show payslips and bank statements to show that. You also need to show property of 2-3 crore or above. It would be better to do you)
10. Family registration certificate (FRC from nadra) original
11. Police clearance certificate original
12. Polio certificate original
13. Your NIC and your parents NIC's photocopy and must be notarized. You would have to provide the same for your sponsors. If you can get a death certificate then that will be better for you as they would need proof about your fathers death. My mother passed away in 2012 and i didn't provide one and it worked for me but i think it was because normally fathers are the primary sponsors so they didn't bother much.
14. Your original passport and all pages of it photocopy

You need to show a minimum of: tuition fee for the first year plus 12000 CAD as proof of funds but the more the better. It would be highly recommended to pay the tuition fee for the first semester/year upfront as it would make your case pretty strong. Make sure the University has a 100% refund policy in case of a refusal.

Make sure to state your purpose and future plans in your SOP like what will you do with your education back here in Pakistan and also makes sure to show ties with your home country (properties, investments, ties with family members etc) that will compel you to leave Canada at the end of your stay. These two are the common reasons of refusal so you have to work on these. You would also need to explain why your relatives are sponsoring you.

Firstly, i am sorry for your loss. As far as your case is concerned, the application gets stronger if your parents are sponsoring you and they also become a family tie that will compell you to return but there is nothing that we can do here so InshAllah this will work out for you. Explain that he was shot but do not bring religion into it. If he was killed as a result of his sect, only then just mention that in a line but do not go any further. We should avoid those topics. In order to make your case strong, try to pay as much tuition fee as you can in advance as the Visa Officer will consider a situation where the relatives refuse to sponsor you anymore so it is better to show them as much money in Canada as possible. So if try to do this. Do check the refund policy of the University first though.

InshAllah it will work out for you. Best of luck!

@AstronomyNut could you answer this one for me. I am not sure i would be able to cover all the documents a business man should show.

As far as a salaried person is concerned, you need to show the salary slips, a letter from the employer stating your sponsor's salary and how long has he been employed at their company. This will also verify that your sponsor is employed at the company he claims to be. Furthermore, you have to provide the bank statements where he has kept the money or some of the money to sposnor you and where he gets his salary. Finally, he should provide the income tax returns (my father didn't provide one and it worked for me but it would be better to provide it) and a letter of financial support on an affidavit. You also have to prove that he is a relative of yours somehow. Get a family registration certificate if he is a close relative.

How to show whether he is my relative or not? Definitely not a close one so cannot go for a FRC.

The thing is, the closer the sponsor is to you, the better it is for your application. A close family member will not stop your funding in the middle of your education but the visa officer will think that a distant relative might do this no matter how good that person is to you. So it makes the case weak. I don't think there is any way to show the connection but he can mention the relationship he has with you on the affidavit of support and financial proof.

Thank you for the advice plus could you tell me about the docs required by sponsor and what docs if he is a business man or salary person? Please identify both if possible.
When it comes to docs for a business it's really like a person, more or less. However, this will not work if it is a public limited company. The reason is that a public limited company is answerable to it's shareholders/board-of-directors and not just your uncle. Your bachelors degree is a private expense so you cannot justify why a public limited company would fund you. It would have worked if you already had employment for a number of years because then it's a business expense or investment, depending how you look at it. So that's the first point to note.

If it is a private company, things are different. Such companies are not answerable to anyone but the owner. If the owner wishes he can fund you as the funds are effectively his. However, the idea here is to show your sponsor as a wealthy person so a VO can understand that this Canadian education is not a big expense for him. As far documentation goes, Income Tax Returns, Business Registration and Bank Statements (if there are not overdrawn) are a good way to show it is a legitimate business and a Tax Return will show at a glance the net income and turnover.

When a sponsor is not family, you should (and this just an opinion of another visa applicant like you):
  • Establish why your parents cannot sponsor you. You mention that your father passed away and that is a very understandable reason. You must also mention why it's not possible for your mother to sponsor you.
  • The motivation of your sponsor. It's not necessary that he gets something out of it but you need to describe his motivation. If you cannot find the words, hold a 5 minute meeting with him and ask him 'why are you doing this for me?' and take notes. Make those notes into the best essay you will ever write. The affidavit of the sponsor should mention some details of your program - such what course is it, intake, length of program, what the yearly cost will be, how frequently they will pay (i.e. does York accept per term payment or annual payment). This will go some way to show that your sponsor has done his homework and is vested in your success. He should mention, in his own words, his motivation to sponsor you in the affidavit.
  • The source of the funding - salary, business. Where does he get his income from? Maybe he has investments. While frequently you will hear 'oh you just have to show tuition fee + 10,000 CAD' in your bank account that is not the complete story. You also need to demonstrate that your sponsor can afford and is willing to support the rest of the years in Canada.
  • If your program was just 1 year or maybe 2 years, I would have asked you to pay upfront for the duration of the program but I know it's at least 4 years and it's just not possible. But pay for the first year, show you have 10,000 CAD in bank. Second, demonstrate that he has enough yearly income for the rest of years. Unfortunately, I cannot give you specific examples as it would vary from sponsor to sponsor. If it is just salary, then is the salary large enough to cover yearly expenses without making a big difference in his life? Remember he is a distant relative and hence has his own family and financial commitments. So YOU need to justify that spending an upward CAD 50,000 or whatever the total cost is does not impede his life in anyway.
  • Unfortunately, there is no way to document motivation and motivates change. I'm writing this so you understand a VO's point of view. Yes, sure, a relative may have pure intentions at this stage to fund you but what happens a year, two years down the line? Will you be stranded? Unfortunately, there is no way to solidify this. All you can do is furnish a convincing story and it will only be convincing if it's true.

Would an education load be more suitable in this case as he does not have a relative sponsoring him and is young so holding large amount of liquidity would also be questionable - whereas a loan is a standard way to study in the west. However, the question then becomes "why take so much money as a loan when you can just study here for the same course?"

I received medical request 4 weeks after interview. I submitted upfront medical in March 2018 with my first rejected application and again attached photocopy of medical sheet with my second application. Do not know why I received medical request again when i already passed my medical upfront. Should I send case specific request informing the fact or go for a medical again. Please advise what to do?

I don't know the answer to your query but wanted to say congratulations! I remember you were refused before so it must be a relief to get medical request.

Good luck with everything!
