Hi,

I am a Pakistani applicant for visa and have been offered a position at university of Regina for MS biochemistry. My unconditional offer letter is in its way out to me and I am looking to collect my all necessary documents for visa purpose.

my offer letter indicates that I would be given a departmental award of 3000 and a GTA of 5000 CAD with total of 8000 CAD. My supervisor would provide me research assistantship of 9500 CAD and total amount I would receive to cover the first year is 17500 CAD.

now stating about my fee and expenses. My fee for one whole year is 7100 cad and thus after paying it I would be left with 10400 cad to carry my living expenses. I have two questions at this point.

1- How much amount do I need to show for visa along with this funding? I am not wealthy person so at all I could provide a bank statement of 8000-9000 cad even if my dad provide me statement and affidavit process etc.

2- As to bear the cost of tickets and flight etc I have read that I require amount of about $3000. To cover this cost I have around 4000 cad in my own account. Although I am working (govt servant) and this account is topped up every month and sometimes I withdraw money but sometimes I dont. Now question is how to prove the maturity of this bank statement? ? Would it suffice if I attach my employment letter or pay slip along with visa app???

pl help me out and it would be wonderful if someone provides me information in context of same scenario. I am very much worried.

hello,
i am too applying for visa in a week or two and as much i have search so far you need to show the bank statement to proof that you can support yourself in Canada without any help even though you have funding and all. you can ask any relative of your's to show the bank statement for you. you can show as many proofs of funding as you can which includes tax payment slip, salary proof, land or property proofs, funding letter and bank statement.

@mjamil,

Are you sure for it?? So far I know none of country restricts entry for funded programs , may be MS or PhD. Simply because they provide funding to the applicant.

Have you got funding as well??

well funding make your case strong. but if you are applying for study permit you have to show strong financial background. in case of fully funded scholarships like common wealth e.t.c then i guess it doesn't matter. but don't loose hope. if you could ask some one to transfer some fund in your account to make it atleast 16,000$ that would suffice.
yeah Alhumdulillah i got funding by the faculty supervisor who is going to supervise my thesis.
Every thing will be fine. just have faith in Allah. Allah will do everything for you. :)

hmm that's still doesn't say that you dnt need bank statement. still i am not sure about it. that's my opinion and i think you need to atleast show your self financially strong enough. if you get to know anything about. please let me know too.. till then best of luck !!
one of my friend had applied for study visa in late may 2015 and still haven't got any answer from cic. he had funding too and he showed his father's bank statement too.. so lets just say luck has its role too.

He would really hear in September. Actually it should be a rule to apply six months earlier than start date of classes. Unfortunately universities consumes so much time and decision and their regular mail is another factor.

Anyway. Let's see. I am optimistic right now. I have spoken with a person and he has clealy stated that I have to mention my funding along the whole money I have. That funding counts in required amount to process visa.Attach all emails/letters of support etc should also be uploaded.

One thing more- my supervisor is insisting me for joining in January and fully concentrate upon visa application. However my offer is valid for one year.. so am confused from both sides.

mjamil-whats your university?

well yeah fingers are crossed!!

you really should apply now and you are right. provide all the financial proofs and write a strong statement of purpose showing your enthusiasm for higher education and discuss your financial conditions and all. don't waste time. you have much time right now. if you are lucky you can get visa within no time.
i am also applying in a week insha Allah with upfront medical. I got admission in McGill M.Engg in bio-medical engineering.

Your funding is enough to cover your expenses. However if you are bringing dependents then you need to show more funds. As a proof of funds, just keep a photocopy of letter that states you have been awarded so much funding from university. If you have not received it along with admission lettet, plz contact your prof or the department. Nothing else would be needed if you are single applicant.

Bluffmaster...

yesterday my professor wrote me and said that offer letter should be sufficient alone for obtaining a visa. He advice me based upon the previous international student visa to the same department.

Hopefully I ll attach my other savings and bank statement to make my app stronger.

All will be good in shaa Allah.

you need to show living expenses of CAD12000/ per year and tuition fees plus other expenses, books, laptop etc etc, so need to show the expenses above grant. But it is always good to show over and above financial strength.

You need to give a reason why you are pursuing a master again

Hey..

having met lot other confusions to deal with. Pl try to understand that my b.sc was two years anf m.sc was two years thus makinh four years of equivalent to B.S. it's not a master again rather MS is equal to M.Phil in Pakistan.

You are right , Canadian take Pakistan's master equal to their bachelor. only MBBS, Bachelor in Engineering are considered as four year degrees, our Bcom, Bsc are not considered as Bachelor, even some universities do not accept our four year BBA, Bsc as equal to their four year bachelor.
