Pain to notarise copies

It is an absolute nightmare trying to notarise copies of documents from the UAE, first you need to translate all docs in Arabic in order for the courts to understand and then translate the stamp back in English cause they stamp and write everything in Arabic. One translation costs 100 AED which is 35 USD per page.

Do you need to notarise all copies??? majority of the docs I'm sending are all orignals,

My degree is from Canada, can I send an orignal letter from the university along with sealed transcripts? Rather than getting a copy notarised? because it first has to go to Canada bla bla bla a very long and BS procedure. Although I hvae the degree verfired through a company called intregra screen, should I send the orignal copy of the letter that the degree is authentic??

I'm getting my birth certificate notarised by the Embassy here in the UAE.

In the Abu Dhabi visa office instructions it mentions send only copies, but in the london office it mentions send Notarised copies??? In the Islamabad office it mentions send all orignals?? So i'm confused, I have docs from 3 different countries, Canada, UAE, Pakistan, what to do..

For all pakistani documents, you can get them attested from PK embassy, i am doing the same. Regarding documents from UAE you can get them notarized from UAE notary public department.

For canadian documents, i think if Canadian embassy can certify them than it should be ok...

My visa office is London and nowhere is it written that ALL photocopies need to be notorized. The word notorize is only mentioned three times.

1. you need to send notorized professional qualifications (Accountant, Architect..etc...)
2. notarized employment contracts
3. any translations of documents must be notorized.

So if your birth cert, passports, marriage cert etc... is in english then it does not ask you to notorize these.

If I am wrong please can someone let me know.

I am not sure why they say ALL on top and then only mention notarize for some of the documents later on. It is kind of confusing but not ambiguous.

Try to go to the embassies to certify documents. It might be cheaper that way.
It might be cheaper sometimes to just fly somewhere else like your home country and certify documents.
In places like South Africa and US, bank managers can certify documents and it is usually free. Is it possible to find out whether in your home country bank managers can do it too.

Ok people

I´m going to lock my self up in a cupboard and cry. You are all right!!! it does say ALL documents at the top of Appendix A. I missed it :(

ok so while im here i might as well ask the other question i dont want the answer to. Do passports and ID´s that are not in english have to be translated word for word too, or is a notarized copy of them ok?

Does your passport not have both English and another language?

Dear rupeshari,

If you read the federal skilled workers package, it clearly mentions that if notarizing outside of canada;

Who can certify copies?
People authorized to certify copies include the following:

Outside Canada:

a judge

a magistrate

a notary public

an officer of a court of justice

a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the person is living

So no bankers can't certify these documents, and I'm a banker, so it would have been easy as I certify orignals myself..

And yes what about passport copies...

Rupeshhari

you really don´t miss a thing do you! lol :)

I just checked and you are right again, the passport has the english version next to the native language. I guess I have never really needed to check that before. Well at least thats one less thing for me to translate.

Thanks again!

In the US, many bank managers are notary publics. You are right, its not that they notarize in their capacity as bank managers but in their capacity as notary public.

So are we all in conclusion that all copies will have to be notarised, including passport copies, etc etc
Unfortunately we are not in agreement. Of course, it is best to notarize everything, you can't go wrong with that, but I am still not sure what the minimum documents to be notarized are. Best to ask BCGuy who used to work or currently works for immigration.

Some people here even say that transcripts don't have to be original as long as you can show them the original later during an interview. Personally, i wouldn't take that chance. Perhaps they let some countries get away with it because original transcripts are impossible.

Why dont you courier all your documents to your country and ask you some relative there to get these notarised and send you back in UAE. The documents have to be notarised not necessarily from UAE.
