I had an interview for one of the Career Edge posting last week and as I remember the director I had interview with told me they are accepting two in ten candidates they have interviewed.
I received a call from Career Edge couple of days after saying congratulations to me since I was pretty good at the interview and asked me for my preferred starting time. When I asked the caler if I am considered as potential two candidates, she said you are within the top two.
I am just wondering if this call can be considered as a sign that I was accepted. Does anyone know how the procedure of post-interview work?
Hello Perla,
And I'd like to say that sounds really positive. Your experience sounds very different than mine but maybe government internship interviews are different. With my internship interview I had to do a test and create a powerpoint presentation and write a briefing note in 30mins then present it in the interview. There was a panel of 3 interviewers where I was asked questions which were on a piece of paper at the front of me. I received a call the next day and was asked to start the following week.
If they were only hiring two candiates out of the 10 and your the top two I would say you got the job as career edge would not ask you when are you able to start work unless you have the position. They are probably asking you this because they need to start the paper work for your payroll.
Congrats in advance and make sure once you start you network as much as you can and take on any challeneges they throw at you. Also 2 months time once you have a grip on it, approach the manager and let them know that your interested in taking on any extra tasks. This is what managers love to see and they will rarely approach you about it. Because Careeredge have a strict rule about doing anything outside of your contract unless the candidate approaches the manager the manager is not allowed to throw extra work on you which is not included in the contract.
