This is a Legit company.

What have you got to lose for applying? It's a great way to launch your career if you have been in Canada for less than 3 years then you are eligible to apply for the internship program.

You don't need a Canada degree as your degree from your home country is enough and once you get through the interview screening they send you a link that you visit to assess your qualifications to see if it is recognized in Canada.

I Landed in Canada mid last year got my first job which was a Internship through Career Edge and that was for the Government which I landed a permanent position if anyone knows its ridiculously hard to land even a contract in the government. So a internship is a bonus because it's a great way to launch your career and get "Canadian Experience".

I would highly advise anyone to apply for it as I'm truly happy that I did and I'm now living very comfortably here now. I've met a few interns while here as Career Edge recruit interns for government positions that start in July.

GO FOR IT!
The less transparent system of hiring is, the more reasons to distrust it.

Exactly, its one of the "tools" available for newcomers to launch their careers in this country. Upon landing nobody knows which "route" will lead to finding a professional job,so its worth to try all the available options.

Exactly and it's such a great way to get in and start networking. The salary is not great but it's the experience and opportunities which arises after that.

I don't see why anyone would avoid this unless they need high income then I would not recommend it.

I agree but you can negotiate something with CareerEdge as they barely took any tax from me and I made 1.1k Bi-weekly which added upto 2.2k a month. You really make 2.5k a month over the 6 month period but one month you get paid 3 times.

Thank You nthompson for your feedback. I have a question about the rate.
The website says 2,200 for new graduates and 2,500 for internatioally qualified professionals. So is this the minimum to be paid and we can get more depending on the employers or just that amount !?

Many thanks in advance.

Hello Osama,

From my personal own experience I did question this and was told that's the most you can get paid. I have seen people say that they earned more than that but I don't know how true that is because the company pays career edge a fixed rate and it's not down to the company to raise your pay because your getting paid by career edge and not the company. So if the company wants to pay you more they would have to hire you.

I had an interview for one of the Career Edge posting last week and as I remember the director I had interview with told me they are accepting two in ten candidates they have interviewed.

I received a call from Career Edge couple of days after saying congratulations to me since I was pretty good at the interview and asked me for my preferred starting time. When I asked the caler if I am considered as potential two candidates, she said you are within the top two.

I am just wondering if this call can be considered as a sign that I was accepted. Does anyone know how the procedure of post-interview work?

Hello Perla,

And I'd like to say that sounds really positive. Your experience sounds very different than mine but maybe government internship interviews are different. With my internship interview I had to do a test and create a powerpoint presentation and write a briefing note in 30mins then present it in the interview. There was a panel of 3 interviewers where I was asked questions which were on a piece of paper at the front of me. I received a call the next day and was asked to start the following week.

If they were only hiring two candiates out of the 10 and your the top two I would say you got the job as career edge would not ask you when are you able to start work unless you have the position. They are probably asking you this because they need to start the paper work for your payroll.

Congrats in advance and make sure once you start you network as much as you can and take on any challeneges they throw at you. Also 2 months time once you have a grip on it, approach the manager and let them know that your interested in taking on any extra tasks. This is what managers love to see and they will rarely approach you about it. Because Careeredge have a strict rule about doing anything outside of your contract unless the candidate approaches the manager the manager is not allowed to throw extra work on you which is not included in the contract.

Just to share my experience as a career edge intern.

I got a 6 months financial analyst intern position via career edge back in May 2014 for the minimum stipend of $2500 per month.
My internship was extended to February 2015 by my host organization with a 13k increase in pay so my gross jumped to $3575 per month.

Then came February and I had an extension to march 2015 so basically my internship ended today.
I did an amazing job with this company.

Guess what? I have landed a permanent job with them to start in July 2015 with a reasonable pay.
These internships are a great way to start a career as new immigrants to canada and it might just be the foot in the door you need.

For anyone in doubt, I think career edge is doing an amazing job!!

Shows that it does happen to a lot of us who really want it. And I bet your worked your socks off to show them that your worth keeping.

Glad you also settled and got yourself sorted. Keep it up and share anymore success or advice with us

Hello everyone,

I have just received an offer from Career Edge internship. Lots of hard work but worth the try. It is a great opportunity to step in the fortune companies and get to know the culture.

Wish everyone the successful career path,

Perla
