Hi FutureImmi

My Case to Board is scheduled today for Oct 2020. My question: when your Academic Examiner and Experience Examiner were complete, did you have any questions/inquiries/further details required from the Application Administrator (AA)? Because if not, I just want to assume that my application will be done in the next meeting. The AA did not ask for anything during both stages of Examiners so I feel very optimistic.
Apologies for the late reply, didn't check the forum in a while.

Answering your question: I wasn't asked a single question or clarification during the entire application process. Case to board means they'll have to make a decision, that is all. All the best.

Hi guys,

Does anyone have free PDF copies of the Law (2nd edition or later) and Ethics (5th edition or later) texts for the NPPE?
It is not ethical to download free PDFs of the said books. If caught it can have significant impact on your p.eng application. There are several documented cases on Apega's website where people soliciting books and exams were caught and penalized by Apega.

my application was deferred to get 1 year experience, since that time I have gained and additional 1 year and 8 months of work experience... charged me another application fee, and asked to wait another 6-12 months. this is so frustrating to deal with APEGA, long responses, long wait times... so now I have used my additional experience toward my "new" application again. Anybody have any experience how long it takes now? hopefully it doesn't take 1 year and 8 months to get an answer from the board again...

Hi,

Hope everyone is doing great in this pandemic time.

I am planning to apply to APEGA but I have concern with my WES equivalency result when I applied for PR. I have a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering in my country of origin and the Canadian equivalency of my degree is 3 years diploma. Has anyone applied to APEGA that has the same equivalency?

thank you

I submitted the request to update the experience on March 2019 and received the P. Eng designation on Oct 2019.
But from the Town Hall meeting on Sep 24, 2020, it seemed that the review is much quicker right now.
Good luck.

Hi guys, I have applied for Peng. and my academic examiner was completed 2nd, of August. After that, my case was changed into the internal review and has remained unchanged. Do you think this delay is usual?
Meantime, my first internal review was completed before starting the academic examiner process.

I submitted my application, reviewed WRVL and CBAT forms and submitted them too. I have a bachelor's from India and a master's from the US. I only submitted WES ICAP and the member portal shows documents received for both the education field. It still says that it is waiting to receive all documents before putting me in the queue for processing but I am not sure which documents is it referencing, responses from validators? Do I also have to send my transcripts along with ICAP?
Thank you in advance.

I am about applying for APEGA P. Eng. Has anyone used the practiceppeexams.ca service before for the CBA? Is it really worth it? I have read somewhere that if not properly filled it could affect your chances.

I have 16 yrs experience with just under 3 years in Canada.

Are there any samples anyone would like to share for guidance?

Thanks in anticipation.

I don't know anyone personally who has used their service. I was considering it but it is expensive. Eventually, I just asked a few fellow P.E. from my work to review my experience. I would recommend that.

Hello everyone,

I came here to share my personal experience with the NPPE exam.

I purchased NPPE exam review materials and practice exam MCQs from PPEHQ. I read through their reviews, most of the EITs said PPEHQ is really good, just like many others that provide similar services (NPPE exam prep. most of them will ‘’guarantee‘’ passing grade or they refund your money).

But let me tell you my personal story today:
I wrote the NPPE exam on Nov 25, and today I finally got the result back, "FAIL". I was in extreme shock when I saw it, and I'm not sure which area I was weak in just yet (the detailed analysis report won't be mail out for another 2-3 weeks by APEGA), nor I know something wrong with the online computer grading system. The reason I said this is because I have done my review properly and completed all the practice exam questions multiple times by understanding the most concepts behind them. I couldn't understand how I would be getting a "fail" for NPPE. I felt confident for most of the questions during the exam, thus I just couldn't make any sense out of the results.

After searching around for the "reassessment of NPPE" result, I gave up. The only "reassessment" available is for the entire P.Eng application. I immediately registered another NPPE on Jan 25, 2021, hoping I can get it cleared in my next attempt....

I bought the new review material from practiceppeexams this afternoon, even though their services is very expensive, but they do offer a bit more review content in terms of online lectures and audio lectures. Also, they offer a larger MCQ pool (500 questions total). So from the looks of it, they do offer a bit more content than other competitors on the market (but of course higher package retail price).

I do feel very disappointed in myself right now cause I have never failed an exam in the past 11 years. But I think this gives me a reminder to study harder and do more practice exam questions. I will keep you guys posted after my next attempt.

Cheers!

Hello all

I also appeared for NPPE examination in November and received my result today. Luckily, I have passed the exam. For new applicants, I thought I should share my experience.

Basically, I only used two books recommended by APEGA. In total, I spent 5 days ( 8 hours per day) to read( can say scan) the books. In my opinion, this is the best option rather than only going through practise questions. Although practise questions can give an idea about the exam pattern but one should go for practise questions only after reading the books. I went through 20 questions available in a youtube video but didnt opt to buy practise questions.

There are few tips that I think I should share:

1. Atleast 20 % questions in exam are highly confusing. One should go through each question atleast twice and should focus on the language. Initially, I completed the exam initially in 1 hour thinking that I have performed great. Then, I started having random discussion with proctor and she even asked if my exam was over. Then , I gave a second look and changed atleast 20-25 answers.

2. Many questions in examination are identical to ones available in text books and practise papers but they make a slight change in the situation. So, one should not jump to conclusion quickly thinking that I know the answer to this question.

3. There are two types of questions : one are sure shot answers and others are either this or that type. So, one should read the books properly and should make sure these sure shot questions are all correct. These questions include questions about patents, copyrights, trademarks, functions of associations, functions of Engineers Canada and process of registeration etc.

4. While reading books, one can easily skip past events, years of occurrence and case studies given in books. I spent a lot of time remembering years, cities and person names as Indian exams usually contain such questions but not NPPE. There wasnt a single question about past. So , just concentrate on the things related to profession that are relevant in current scenario. Also, no use of cramming acronyms and processes of individual provinces. Only quebec has rules different than other provinces and in general, questions shall be asked in context to whole of Canada.

I hope these tips can help other NPPE aspirants. If these tips were available to me, would have definitely saved atleast 2 days of preparation.

Cheers

Congratz on your NPPE passing! Yes, I agree, I will need to spend more time reading the recommended reading material first other than spending most of my efforts on doing practice MCQs.

I've already started my review and preparation for the next NPPE, I know it is still a long way to go, but I just want to start early and keep reviewing things.

Hi,
I started my process in September last year and completed my submission in December. In March this year my, after my case waited for three months to be picked up, the following day. I received “recommendation” to review the process and include more Canadian experience. With that and the celerity of the recommendation, I panicked and hired them. They reviewed my whole CBAT and recommended changes.
My case was approved by APEGA, so basically I can tell you that helps a lot on focusing what and how to describe you competencies...sometimes is not how much experience but specific examples are better, more minimalist and detailing.
