OWP What's Next? What else do I need?

I should be getting my OWP in the mail soon, I got an email from CIC (finally! yay!)

I know I need to get a SIN. Do I need anything before I start working?

Also, can I do contract or freelance work...I know that might be considered self-employed and I don't know if that's allowed. (Like selling paintings or teaching art classes.)
