We are at our wits end! We received AIP on January 8th and I called CIC last week, he says it's been sent out on that very day, we have contacted the address, where it's sent to (where we used to live) since we apparently had to do that verbally too. Still nothing, and we paid Canada post $50 to get mail forwarded, but there is still no sign. I see everybody else are getting theirs a week or so after, so it really makes us wonder. The agent told me to call back on February 19th, but is there really nothing else there can be done?

I'm pretty sure they won't reissue a doc until 6 weeks after it was issued, incase it gets returned to them. This happened to me with my visitor visa. Seems a stupid rule but that's the way CIC rolls.

That is stupid... You are right! But I don't see why it should be returned, since we already contacted the new tenant where it gets to. Ridiculous that is. Thanks though, guess we'd have to wait!

Look at it this way Line.a Maybe if you have to call them again about it, instead of them saying it was re-issued they instead say, well we have a DM on your application. It could happen at any time now since you have already received your AIP.

Try to think positive my dear!

You could try telling CIC that the new tenant thinks they though it in the bin and see if they'll reissue it

I love your optimism, I really do! Thanks guys! :)
I doubt they will tell us that, I still have to make an appointment for my medical test, but since my man has a hectic work schedule we decided it would be best to do that in mid February when he has a little time off. We talked and came to the conclusion it's probably being returned to CIC for some silly reason, so I guess it is what it is. Just frustrating when we see everybody else getting it. But I guess it's our own fault in the end of the day :-[ should haven known better about the address change.

I think any government mail that gets sent to old address will not get forwarded to new address. It will either get returned or the new tenants chuck it in the garbage.

The preventing of forwarding government mail is done to prevent fraud, especially when it comes to government cheques.

You're right, that's probably what happened. Do we really have to wait until late February to get a new sent out? I already called CIC and he said to wait until February 19th. Unfortunately he spoke very fast, so for me to catch everything was a struggle. Do they keep on track so when I call around the 19th they are ready to send out a new one? Or what do you suggest we do? I can't thank you all enough!

I think the 6 weeks rule applies to mail that doesn't get returned at all. Also reduce the effect of two OWP floating out there in the mail. I would suspect that if the mail was indeed returned, CIC will notice that and you would get the new OWP re-issued sooner than 6 weeks.

Okay that certainly puts my mind at ease, I am almost a 100% that's what happened. Since we contacted the tenant and he said he'd been keeping an eye out the whole time since we let the landlord know about this, as soon as we received the AIP email. I'm about to schedule an appointment for my medicals in early February, so hopefully that will speed things up a little as well. Thanks Screech :)
