Congrats on getting medical and this is positive for you.

There are spread threads for Pakistan. Others (i.e. experts from other countries) probably can't help beyond quoting standard page for timelines per country, in which work permit application time lines are up to 9 months on average for Pakistan.

The processing time depends upon a lot of things - one of which is the time of the year when you applied i.e. whether CIC Islamabad is under processing back log or not. Usually they are very busy during study visa processing times which are currently through already i.e. most student visas are for September in take which have already been processed. So you can expect that visa office is relatively on low work load currently and can process you faster.

Still same day with online app is the fastest i have ever heard. But i have had a colleague who applied last year around same time i.e. oct-nov (paper based), got medical call in like 4-5 days. So considering the additional time it takes to scan and upload forms and create files for a paper based app, which is not required for online app, you are almost as fast, but over all fastest. Still for that guy it took a total of 2 months to receive final visa from the date of application. There are a few others for which the whole process took 1.5 month or sometimes even a little less.

For student visas which have higher priority than work permits, there are exceptional cases which took 10-12 days in total for an online app. But again student visas shouldn't be compared with work permits.

You can join the following thread where quite a few people are sharing their timelines and other info.

Hi friends,

I applied for my TWP in mid July. was called for medical after 2 months with a IELTS request letter along with the medical request letter. on my medical request letter , It says that

(A) visa officer has not yet made any decision but I have the option of completing the medical examination now.and also it says SHOULD YOUR APPLICATION ULTIMATELY BE REFUSED.

(B) the officer has assessed your visa application.you are now required to undergo a medical examination in order for the officer to make a final decision on your application.

Please explain to me what it really says?.because I am confused of these two statements on the medical request sheet.you know I have already done the IELTS as they want me to do it within some certain period of time.

Looking forward to your answer.

This is some what different wording and A or B probably means any of this could apply.

What is important for you to understand that undergoing medicals should not mean your case has been accepted yet. It could go either way.

Just get your medicals done and hope for the best. The additional IELTS requirement come due to your NOC Code and profession i.e. you need to prove your english skills, nothing else.

The medical instructions i received for me and my family simply said

"Your application processing has now reached the point where medicals are required". It was also written that "Costs are your responsibility and won't be refunded if your application is refused".

So i really don't think it matters what the wordings were, since you should NEVER assume getting medicals means your visa is certain, though i would say you have a better chance and it is a positive sign. But that's all.

Hi FKL

Thanks a lot,I've done my medicals already.I have got the same message as you have mentioned.

"Costs are your responsibility and won't be refunded if your application is refused".

IELTS requirement was not in the WP documents request list though. They always make things harder for the applicants.

Yes i understand that IELTS is not there in the requirements. That is why i mentioned your NOC code. The job you are going for and would have experience in - does not necessarily serve as a proof of your English language skills. That is why they asked for it and embassy has the leverage to do so.

If you were going for a skilled job whose experience already indicated and required enough language proficiency, perhaps they won't have bothered with IELTS. Hence it depends on a case to case basis.

UPDATE:

Though i would say you are lucky to have been asked for this. I have known people who applied for kitchen helper work visa and were refused outright and their gcms notes latter indicated "no IELTS submitted".

WOW!!I am feeling lucky,

Thanks again FKL,you know girl at the counter in embassy did say that Its a new rule which the applicants have to sit for the IELTS. I dont understand why they refused the applications without IELTS since its a new rule.

No problem. It's not really new, it depends upon case or profile. Again if you are already doing a job which sort of proves that you cannot work without a reasonable level of English (and therefore shouldn't need IELTS) and have say a basic qualification such as 4 year BS in a skilled field whose medium of instruction was English.

Oh! that is odd then, perhaps they overlooked this history. Or may be reading through reference letters may be they didn't realize this.

I would advise that in addition to submitting IELTS score, add a plain paper and write in a few words that you have worked for this many years at an English speaking country and are thoroughly fluent. Say that reference letters are along to verify that. If this makes them realize that they overlooked something they shouldn't have, it would probably be positive for your case on wards.

UPDATE:

Why i advised this? Because with a huge package with many documents for an applicant, it is likely that they overlooked the fact that you included a work permit and experience at an ENGLISH speaking country WHEN EVALUATING YOUR LANGUAGE SKILLS. This is weird though but unfortunately possible, coz i don't see a reason why they would ask this from a person of the profile you have mentioned. Perhaps it also indicates why you have been asked to do it since you appear to be a better application considering prior work permit holder in an english speaking country with probably similar job.

By the way i just verified that official language of Burma is not English. So unless your reference letters state that explicitly or make it obvious, i am not sure if that gives you a benefit
