OWP and restored status

Hi all!

We applied for OWP with our sponsorship application when my wife was out of status. Now her status is restored, would she get OWP before AIP as she has a status now? Or it doesn’t matter because she was out of status when we submitted application?

Please share your knowledge and experience.

My guess is itll be denied as it is a requirement to have legal status in canada in order to apply for an owp
