Own sister in Canada a problem???

Dear Friends

I got admission for M.Eng at Concordia University for May 2013 intake. But My Own Sister is in Toronto, Canada and thank god she is on a Temporary Resident Visa, But She has a work permit and she is working. Is there a problem because of that....
Now for financial proof for my studies, I have two options

1. My sister's says that she will provide the sponsor letter for me, and her bank statements in Canada. But I fear that, in that case there are more chances of my Visa being rejected, as there is more potential for the visa officer to
believe that i may settle there... (Although i have no wish to settle there).

2. Pay the Full Tuition Fee upfront and get a GIC for the Living expenses and rest of the expenses. (Although First option is very easy for me than the second, But i cannot afford to have my visa rejected because of this)

Which is the best option guys, please help me here... Thank you

its catch 22 my friend.... popular belief is that if you have a sibling and/ or parent etc from your immediate family in Canada, it can be used against you. However, it can also work in your favor in terms of showing financial backing as your canadian relative can also sponsor your studies. It all depends on how you put yourself out there as a student and if you can show strong ties to your country and make the VO believe that you have a better future in India than canada. It's a lot harder now (or easier) since there are no interviews.

I had 3 sponsors for my studies when i applied (my parents, a relative in India and a relative in Canada) and i was granted the visa (4 years at that time). But mind you this was 10 years ago. Processing scrunity may very well have changed by now. I also had the chance to go for an interview and convince them.

You will have to give details of your sister in your application anyways in the family section and will have to truthfully show that she is living in Canada even if on a temporary basis. But you also have to consider how long is your sister allowed to be in canada. If she is sponsoring you for your degree that runs 4 years but she herself only has a 1 or 2 year visa, than that sponsorship really does not help.

consider all these before you apply because the VO will.

My sister has applied for Permanent Resident and she will be in Canada for atleast 2 more Years... My Study Duration is also 2 years.... But i don't know what to do... Just thinking of paying the fee upfront and getting a GIC for the rest....

I Have another doubt too brother... In application for Canada Visa, they ask
"Have you been rejected any kind of visa, by Canada or by any other country "
What to answer for this Question... My U.S Student Visa was rejected for Fall 2012 term... Is stating this an disadvantage...

I would say Just be honest and upfront about it but thats just my opinion. what was the reason for the rejection? It could be a disadvantage based on the reason for rejection. If that condition has been satisfied, make sure you explain that in the application.

As far as the GIC stuff is concerned, like i said, you would have to put down your sister's name and whereabouts in the family info part of the application anyways. so they already know your sister is in canada. so it probably won't matter if she sponsors you or not if they decide to hold that against you.

It's a tricky place you are in right now.

This month my brother got a study visa while I am living in Canada. My brother got a loan plus some showed some funds on his own. I sent a letter stating that I will provide financial support if need arises.

They did not give any specific reason, but they gave a form which states two things...
1. I did not satisfy the officer that i will return... They fear i will settle there
2. No sufficient Funds...

And about that money matter, i think it's better to pay the fee and get a GIC for living expenses....

1. If you are from India, better to rely more on sanctioned loan/GIC.
