Overstay?

I worked in Canada on a limited contract and prior to that my work permit has expired I applied for an extension to stay in Canada for another month as a temporary resident to travel. However as it turned out I have got my application back expired ten days prior to the date I was wishing to stay longer and booked my flight ticket for. To the top of that I have got this mail only after three months I already left Canada. However as it clearly looks like I overstayed in Canada for ten days anyways. Now what do I suppose to do or expect when I possibly would go back ever?

Any thoughts?

When your permit expires, you have 90 days from the date it expired to restore your status. The 10 days fall within these 90 days and you actually left Canada. So that is good.
Now, when you complete applications in the future, you have to answer "yes" to the question "did you stay beyond your authorized period?". Then give the explanation above and explain that you would have also had 90 days to restore your status and that your left Canada.

Apparently I do not need a visitor visa due to my country of origin, so I would not be in need of filling an application for a visitor visa the next time I would travel to Canada. I extended my work permit and because of this I also had to change my flight departure. However I have got my temporary resident status ten day prior to my flight would have taken me off as it turned out. I am only wondering as I do not need to apply for a visitor visa, what would happen if I would travel back again, and show up at the border with this situation? (I undertand that in any other case - work permit etc. - I would need to answer that question as it was mentioned above, but in the visitor case - like I said I don't need to apply for a visitor visa - what sort of consequences I should expect at the border - if I am asked about my last visit to Canada by the Immigration Officer and would tell what has happened???
