Hey guys,

I am a PR holder and recently got married in India. I am in the process of applying an outland visa for my wife.Is it mandatory to open a joint bank account in India ? OR since my wife already has an account opened there, can I just transfer funds in her account to show the shared expenses?

Kindly advise! Thanks!

You dont need joint anything. You guys are married. As long as your marriage is genuine that's all the officer cares about.

Ok thanks jaybee43 but it says in the checklist that documentary evidence of financial support between you and your sponsor; or shared expenses. So, do you mean that no need to open an account at all or no need to make the account joint?

No need. It is one of the options. Many spouses don’t have a joint account. Provide as much evidence as possible.
