Overcharged for eTA

My Mum's just applied for her eTA but noticed ~$111 has left her account.

I guess she needs to email CIC but in the meantime has anybody else experienced this, and if so, did you get it resolved easily?

Take it up with the bank or credit card company in first instance to cancel the payment then maybe try a case specific enquiry using the ETA number might take some time though https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx

The same thing has happened to me.

I have been charged $114/ £61.

Have you resolved this?

I am flying on Monday so I don't want to cancel it at my bank incase there is an issue.

You dont actually need an ETA until end of September http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/eta.asp but I guess as you are flying Monday.

Probably a stupid question for which I apologise but you did use the official Canadian Government website as per this link and not one of the many 'ETA' sites that have popped up to take money when it is very simple to DIY much like the unofficial ESTA sites that popped up for the US.

Here was a warning re someone charging 122CDN for an ETA https://www.thesenior.com.au/travel/canada-dont-be-scammed/ sounsd similar amount. My family applied for 4 ETas via the official site and all charged the correct amount each time.

So did these people get scammed by not going to the official Canadian Government ETA site ? It certainly sounds that way given if the real site was overcharging it would be all over the press

My Mum went through the CIC website. She's not flying for 2 months so has time to get it sorted I guess.
