Outland Spouse Sponsorship - Mistakes in IMM 5532 Form

Hello there! Thanks for all the valuable info in this forum. Unfortunately, I submitted the application yesterday and upon double-checking it today because of my anxiety, I noticed that I made a few mistakes.


Mistake One

I (sponsor) filled the part that asked about Any relatives in Canada (cousins, aunts, uncles, etc).

My spouse (principal applicant) should have been filling this area.


Second Mistake

I put the date of our marriage ceremony ( official one) wrong

I mixed up the days with months. It was YYYY-MM-DD I put YYYY-DD-MM


Third Mistake

Upon checking our marriage certificate, it shows she took my last name, but on everything else her name is still birth name not my last name. Do I write an explanation letter?


Objective :

To let IRCC know ASAP


Process?

Do I rase a webform? Since I don't have any UCI numbers or case files, what is the next best thing I can do?

Do I wait for my file to be returned?

How do you know your file will be returned? Its returned when you leave out something, or dont sign something. Here, you have made errors, which will only compound and complicate your application if you dont correct it asap.

So yes - a simple, brief, point by point, Letter of Explanation will do the job. Use the webform.
You DO NOT have to have the UCI number, to send the form, just your dob and name can do. But they do ask your file number as well. Try leaving it blank and see if your form goes through or not.

Mention the mistakes done in Form #______.
Then if you can pin point the question numbers, that will be helpful for the officers.
And then simply write the Corrections. Do not re-write all the errors, but just a simple explanation what mistake you did.

Send it asap!

I do agree with the above post to pro actively provide them with the explanation about the mistakes. But the number of mistakes that have been made by OP on a single application, I do believe it will be returned as there is a surname difference in the application and the marriage certificate itself. It's common to adopt a new surname after marriage but it requires an official affidavit of name change or at least a new government issued ID which shows you have adopted a new surname. An AOR is only issued when the checklist is complete and an application is free of any major errors which in this case, there is one with the name and more importantly the marriage date.
There is not harm in submitting a webform explanation but doing what the previous member suggested, but in my opinion, it will be returned as YOU (person applying) will have to fix these mistakes and submit it again.
Another possibility could be that you do receive an AOR followed by ADR (Additional Document Request) coz your application won't make sense to them. Good luck.

You submit a webform with corrections and letter of explanation.

My own guess is that the name and date issues are minor enough that they might get overlooked. The form with relatives is more serious in that technically the correct form was not submitted (you submitted the form for a different person). Include a corrected one.

And then you wait and hope they accept the forms and issue you an AOR, and if not, you get it returned and you resubmit.
