Hi there,

Myself (UK citizen) and my wife (Canadian citizen, UK passport, currently living in UK with me) are currently preparing our documents to submit an outland family class sponsorship.

We have no children so the only people in our immediate family would be myself and my wife. I was wondering if my wife (the sponsor) is also required to provide a police certificate and a set of recent photos from a commercial photographer?

Thanks,
Steven.

No, she isn't. We did exactly the same process.

Great, thanks a lot.

Hi again, we had another quick question if you don't mind!

My wife is dual-nationality (UK & Canada) and did not renew her Canadian passport when it expired, she only has her UK passport.

We were planning on sending a copy of her UK passport and Canadian birth certificate. Will we also need to renew her Canadian passport?

Thanks again :)

no , but if she is travelling to Canada after March 15th i believe she will have to have some kind of ID to travel , not just her British passport as they are now requiring a travel visa.

Yes, I believe that you will. As a Canadian citizen, she cannot apply for an eTA but as a British citizen using a visa-exempt passport, she will require one. Catch-22. Best to travel on the Canadian passport.

I'm travelling in May on my British passport but will have my citizenship card with me and old Canadian Passport. I'm hoping thats going to be good enough, as a pr can't get a Canadian passport or a eta so how will they travel

A PR who doesn't possess a valid PR card will now have no option to travel using a visa-exempt passport. They will be forced to obtain a PR Travel Document or cross the USA land border. A PRTD is an implied eTA.

I would suggest you renew your Canadian passport. The airline can refuse to board you with your citizenship card and expired passport.

Great, thanks!

To confirm, will it be OK to send off our application without the Canadian passport, and renew it at a later date before we travel?

We are hoping to get our application sent off ASAP.

yes i would send it off .If you look at her British passport it will say on it where she was born Canada . Send off for the Canadian passport later . My Canadian passport says that i was born in Wales but passport was issued in Canada .Canadian citizen .

Thanks a lot for the advice :)

I'm booked in for my medical next week and after that it shouldn't be too long until we send off our application :D
