Hi everyone

I have a question concerning finances for the application permanent residency. My spouse since she is Canadian is sponsoring me (we currently live in Guatemala with our 3 kids) and we have doubts as to whether we need to present financial statements. We currently have one with around 14,000usd (our savings under her name) and it is already in English. Is it fine if we present this, or should we try to include more statements which prove we have more money for example?

Thank you very much

You need to provide evidence of how you support yourselves, the more the better within reason. The bank statement is good, but I believe if you are employed CIC requests other documents such as pay stubs and of course the Notice of Assessment. It's also helpful to provide evidence of a joint bank account to help with the genuine relationship requirement.

Thank you for your reply

My wife (the sponsor) is currently not working and hasn't for over 5 years. Like you recommend we do have a joint bank account which we'll put in the application. Any other things that would help? What is the notice of assessment? I do work in Guatemala, is it good to provide a company letter showing my salary and time worked in the company?

thank you
